 What kind of damage is this and what's the best solution?

Was hoping someone here can help me, here's the problem I've got ~(3 pics)
I'm finding small holes in both of my plants... They are outside, I'm hoping someone can tell me what kind of damage this is, and the cheapest way to get rid of it

Soil Growers:
1. Are you growing from seed or clones? seed
2. How old are your plants? 6-7 weeks
3. How tall are your plants? 5-6 ft
4. What size containers are they planted in? 40cm
5. What is your soil mix? store bought all purpose
6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use and how much you give per watering? tap water, every 2 days, 1 litre per plant.
7. What is the pH of your water? I dont know
8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? I haven't used any fertiliser yet as the soil has some included.
9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? I only spray them with water
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights") Outside
11. How close are your lights to the plants? about 93,000,000 miles
12. What size is your grow space in square feet? n/a
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? n/aq
14. What is the pH of the soil? I dont know
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? Yes, but am unsure of what kind of bugs they are, have always removed them if found.
16. How much experience do you have growing? First time, trying to do as cheap as possible, hence why I havent ph tested, etc.

93,000,000 miles hahaha looks like silk worms, caterpillars or ants maybe. The second pic looks like poo from the bugs doing the eating. Look for icky silk on the leaves cause they would leave that. I'd say spray with neem oil or liquid ladybug. Maybe consider introducing real ladybugs into the mix. If they are 5-6' tall they can probably benefit from fertilizer or at least a root drench with a neem solution which might deter the bugs in the first place.

it could also be mites, they eat little holes in the leaves like that, and ^i agree on the neem oil and lady bugs check under your leaves for mites

From what I read mites are less likely outdoors as they have a lot of natural enemies.

That looks nothing like mite damage, and they do not create holes. They will create discoloration though.
Is this only on one plant? Or is it affecting multiple? Only lower leaves? All over?

Nah that's quite a bit different. I've seen mite damage a lot, this is not that. Not sure exactly what's going on, but maybe more info would help.

okay I'll look for that and pickup some neem oil when i can afford it. I already cover the area around the pots with slug and ant killer (none of it gets in the pots), so maybe not ants but it's still probably a possibility.
Would substituting neem spray for tobacco spray be a temporary viable or option, or should i stay away from it? read some places it can help but idk how good the sources were.
i'll try and take some better pictures later

affecting both (all) plants. most of the damage seems to be nearer the top, especially on the tops, but damage is all over. not on every leaf.

Not sure about tobacco spray myself. Just found out who's been munching my plants.... A fucking lady bug! The orange variety. Even things you think are helping can be doing damage. Just keep your eyes open and know what bugs you've got.

Lady bugs don't eat plants. They eat bugs. Aphids and the such.

that's what I thought but I saw new holes form where it moved to away from holes it was next to when I first spotted it. This was not a red one it was orange?? Turned my world upside down.

It was one of those asian beetles that DO bite and stink like shit. I am confirming that the poison spit or bite was putting holes in my plants. I had no more silk worms, or fungus gnats in the veg room. Only bugs I could find where a couple spiders which I leave alone and that one orange lady bug. Killed it and holes stopped.

The cheapest way to get rid of caterpillars (if that's OPs problem) is to simply go out at dawn and/or dusk and look underneath every leaf for them, then squash the bastards. Might be tedious but you gotta do what you gotta do. I wouldn't spray my plants with any kind of pesticide unless I had mites, definitely not just for caterpillars.
