Perpetual question

I'm interested in the idea of a perpetual harvest but have a question about it. My idea is to have three different tents, one for each month of the grow. Every month a new set of clones goes to tent 1, tent 1 moves to tent 2, tent 2 moves to tent 3 and it perpetuates as such. My question is with the lighting. My idea was to put a 400w in tent 1, a 600w in tent 2, and a 1000w in tent 3. Now I know you can pull on average around 2 lbs with a 1000w (granted you do everything correctly), but my question is would you still pull that 2 lbs if the plants weren't under the 1000w for the entire duration of the grow cycle? Does the 400w to 600w to 1000w system make sense?

Well to start, get the 2lb notion out of your head, the vast majority of growers don't hit that. Doing so has a ton of influences, that a beginner should NOT be shooting for that. 1lb is what you should shoot for to start.
And how much growing have you done? 3 tents seem a bit ambitious. Shit, I've been growing and only use 2 grow areas.

Many years of experience. Just nothing perpetual and no lighting above 400w experience.

Okay, good to know. 2 pounds per thousand is still a lot to expect thought man. You need the right strain, and you need to know how to reach the maximum potential of that strain.
In my opinion 3 tents is over kill. I would just do 1 tent with a 600 watter, and one with a thousand.

Someone said there is no perpetual grow, I politely disagree. You would benefit greatly from reading this thread on the IC forum by DrBudGreengenes, it's long but well worth the read - especially for one of limited funds for equipment:
