While this is true, it's not necessarily going to decrease violence.  We just wont have guns to do it with.  If someone wants to kill you, or hurt, they will.

I dare say that robberies and crime may even go up if guns were outlawed.  I mean think about it, you've got a criminal (who chances are, is going to own a gun regardless of the legalities of it because that's the case nowadays to be honest) who knows that a lot less people are carrying guns because they're outlawed whereas before, he has doubt in his mind as to whether or not people are carrying guns because you've got people with CCP or who carry a gun openly and that doubt in his mind about who's carrying might possibly keep him from trying to rob say.....6 out of 10 people, whereas if he knows they are outlawed, might try to rob say 7 or 8 out of 10 people where it was just 4/10 before.  You never know, but I think crime going up and your chances of getting shot going up instead of down (as koopa said) is a legitimate possibility.  I mean because most people that own guns are responsible owners anyway and you wouldn't have to worry about them unlawfully shooting you in the first place, whereas if they were outlawed, the same criminals would have them, if not more dumbass people who got a wild hair up their ass and were inspired to go out and rob people knowing most of them weren't carrying.  Just a thought.

And another thing, the whole, nobody would have guns if they got outlawed assumption is one hell of an assumption too.  There's a lot of responsible owners (people you don't have to worry about shooting you unlawfully) out there who wouldn't give up their shit, but whom you also don't have to worry about shooting you over 10 bucks either.

Give everyone guns, fuck it.  Damn sure would make things more interesting to say the least, one way or another   The people that want them bad enough will have them anyway, regardless of felony convictions or probation or whatever.
