No not all bud mold. High humidity and dense buds are also a mold starter but it's a different kind of mold. More of a rot really. The brown looking crap that turns buds to useless powder or a slimy mess.
and don't forget that white powder mildew is actually more of a disease then something that grows on the plant even though that's what it looks like.

Idk wtf I was thinking.
As long as everything's kept dry with plenty of air exchanges though, this won't happen right? I'm not doomed to moldy bud because I saw a mite here or there while growing, right?

What he said.
As far as the mite shit starting mold. Nah not just from one or a few. They are so small you need large numbers of their shits to start a problem. The problem with that is with mites it's easy to get to large numbers rather fast. Buuuuuuuut by that point you have bigger problems then a few buds molding.
Now about the mite. Over this amount of time if you have only seen one it may not have been a mite. Look into thrips and related bugs to see if that may have been the problem. Much easier to control and they take a little longer to spread if they even do. (by the way they are small like mites)
and last the only way to slow mites naturally also slows the bud growth. High humidity, mites hate this. Cold temps, they hate that to. Unfortunately buds hate both those things also.
Sorry for all the long winded crap tonight I get all typey typey on Sativas.
