Indoor 600W MH/HPS Soiless Strawberry Cough & White Widow
    #663563 - 03/25/13 08:49 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Hello all,

I am new to the forum and just started a new grow. I thought I would start things off right and create a grow journal for future reference. This will be my second grow ever, my first one was a little of a catastrophe thus I have searched out a reputable forum to seek help in. I have been browsing here and yours seems great. So, thanks in advance for allowing me a place to call home.

My setup is basically this:
(1) 4x2x5 Veg tent w/ Sunblaze T5 HO 48" 8 Tube

(2) 3x3x6 Flower tent w/ Lumatek 600 Digi, HydroFarm Radiant 6 and Hortilux Bulbs

(3) ProMix BX (Considering making the swap to coir on this grow)

(4) GH Flora Series w/ Magi-Cal supplement.

(5) Filtered tap water.

(6) Tons of fans.

I have three of each, Dutch Passion strains. All sitting under a small grow light until they are ready to hit the HID. Thanks for looking and I am always open to suggestions, comments, criticism, etc. Like I said, I am new so I am probably going to make some mistakes. Let me know when I do and I would greatly appreciate it.

I have a Hanna Combo ph/ec/tds meter. I think that was the major problem. I started out thinking since I was using Promix that my ph should be @ hydro levels so I was sitting @ 5.8. I didn't notice any real bad problems until late in the Veg stage, early into flowering and started noticing some serious iron & zinc deficiencies. That is when I started doing some research and noticed that I should have been @ 6.3. I flushed the shit out of them and renuted but with the minerals being immobile I haven't seen a tremendous rebound. I have also been foliar feeding with chelated iron and zinc as well hoping to get a little better rebound with that. Just started that yesterday so I will see what happens in a few days. They are actually still flowering now but I will be happy if they make it through. They have about 4 weeks left. I will post some pictures when I get home. Those are Autos by the way.

As for air flow, I have two 6" fans in the tent circulating air along with two inline duct fans pulling air out of the top of the tent. All 3 vents on the bottom of the tent are open for pressure equalization.

Yeah, I like the meter a lot. It is pretty expensive compared to other ones but it is spot on every time. Every month or so I will check ph in water and then calibrate it and check the same water ph again and it has always been within .02-.03 out. About the only thing I don't care for is it can be finicky sometimes about reading ph. I have to swirl it around a few times and it may take 30 seconds or so before it levels out on a number. That could be because the sensor needs cleaned as well. I have never cleaned the sensor on it and have had it about two years.

Thanks Bro, don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. This is my second grow so I may screw things up a little, but it is gonna be a learning experience.

Nice setup:like:

You might wanna tie those long branches now, before they start putting on weight.

How far in flowering are they? LST is beneficial for the first few weeks of flowering.

Thanks Maestro, that grow you are looking at is my Polar Lights grow. It is an auto and those pics were taken about 4 weeks into flowering. I currently have about 2-3 more weeks before they are ready to come down.

Day 20 and I just put them under my Sunblaze T5 yesterday and they are staring to take off. I have one that got a little leggy so I had to prop her up. Other than that I am quite pleased so far.

Thanks BudGrower! Other than a little leggy I am quite happy. That will be resolved this week when I transplant them, I will bury the stem a little deep. I am actually surprised how much I have been feeding them and they seem to keep wanting more. Hopefully that is a good sign of things to come. Dutch Passion is winning me over with their genetics. Very hardy strains.

Yeah, those are toms in the background. I grow about 20 different varieties of heirloom tomatoes along with numerous other vegetables for sale at the farmers market on the weekends. With the late cold spell in these parts I haven't been able to get anything out yet so I have about 150 tomato plants sitting around my garage waiting for the soil, lol. Damn weather has been terrible lately but it is beginning to look up. I have been rotating them out every other day in the grow tent just trying to keep them alive while the weather warms up. Any other year I would have had them out 4 weeks ago. Oh well, such is life with outdoor gardening.
