Soil Growers: 1. Are you growing from seed or clones? Seed 2. How old are your plants? 42 days 3. How tall are your plants? Tied down, idk roughly 1.5 ft 4. What size containers are they planted in? 5 gallon flowerpot 5. What is your soil mix? Fox Farms Ocean Forest 6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use and how much you give per watering? Roughly once a week, store-bought distilled water, 3 quarts to 1 gallon 7. What is the pH of your water? 6.5-7.0 8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? None yet, but will be using Fox Farms' basic soil trio nutes. 9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? No 10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? (HPS, MH, fluorescent, halogen, incandescent "plant lights") 300w HPS, 104w CFL 6500K 11. How close are your lights to the plants? HPS is 15" away 12. What size is your grow space in square feet? Idk, 3ft x 3ft 13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? Temp. fluctuates from low/mid 60's light off to high 70's light on. Humidity is unknown. 14. What is the pH of the soil? Tested runoff, appeared to be 6.0-7.0 15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? No 16. How much experience do you have growing? This is my second grow.
I suspect slightly hot soil, on top of just a little overwatering. Really just wanting some confirmation on my suspicions and some input/comments on how things are looking so far. The reason I suspect N overdose is just how dark green the fan leaves are, with slightly red stems on the fan leaves. But the new growth is lime green, twisted, and thin. All leaves are droopy.
Also, it looks like I got a very indica phenotype of this G13xHaze. Anyone got an estimate on what percentage you'd say is indica?
EDIT: And does it look like it's ready for clones to be taken, or should I wait a little longer?

pictures in natural lighting, please. its just hard to tell with the HPS above.
I would definitely say you over watered it though. let the soil dry out an extra day or two before you water next time

I'm not seeing any clawing.
The new growth that is bent down like that, its usually normal from what I've seen and experienced, it should straighten out as it gets larger. Could also be from possible over water.
If you ruled out over watering and you can see larger leaves clawing, then yeah you might have some nitrogen toxicity. But, the brown spots coincide with calcium deficiency.
Also, you should give your plant more water when it comes time to water her. I dont think 3 quarts to 1 gallon is nearly enough for 5 gallon pot since you have been vegging for 42 days

Agreed with polo. They tend to grow out of this phase, I've seen it a few times, and it always goes away on it's own.
And polo is definitely right about the amount of watering. Just make sure it dries out enough first.

I'm pretty sure I overwatered, the soil was dry for about 2.5" down into the soil, the tips were burnt, and it was still drooping. So I thought possibly under-watered, but the next day I was fairly certain I had just fucked up by watering it.
Considering blackstrap molasses has calcium in it, could I use it to help with the possible deficiency, or would the other minerals cause problems? Per tablespoon, it has 41mg Calcium. http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/sweets/5573/2 EDIT: The link doesn't specify blackstrap molasses though.
What would be an appropriate amount of water to give it; 2 gallons? And just so I'm clear on the subject, should I just wait for ALL of the soil to dry? Meaning should I check the drainage holes with a straw about 2" up to see if it's dry down there?

Yes all the soil must be dry to avoid over watering again. 2 gallons might be sufficient but idk for sure. Next time you're watering, feel how heavy the pot is when you're done.. It should be way heavier, so take notice of how light it is when the soil is DRY.

I think determining soil moisture is one of the most difficult things to do for many people. It's easier to tell when under watered than over-watered, I think.
It really takes lots of attention and critical thought to determine soil dryness in a container grow. Like many have said before, and I learned this on my own account, the best thing is to be able to "heft" the pot and "feel" the relative weight.
It helps to know what a dry pot feels like, and a thoroughly watered one. After that, it's just acclimating to the weight of the plant added.
I picked up one of my plants the other day and I had trouble holding it upright ... the plant weighed more than the soil and wanted to tip over. Yet, it remained turgid. Soil was appropriately dry and no plant stress (not too dry).

So after being DAMN sure that the soil was dry, 4 days after watering last, it was watered with 2 gallons last night and I woke up to this:
The plant had started to look worse, but the soil was bone-dry so I just asssumed it was thirsty. Not perfect, but much better than before, so I consider it a success. Thanks for the patience and help, everyone!

Thanks, it looks better than what's in the pics but I just can't seem to get anything clear or a with a good angle. The only problem is we're supposed to be getting at least 6" of snow soon, probably more, so if the light goes out I'm up shit creek when it comes to taking clones and vegging them.

I'm worried that if the power goes out, it could stress or induce flowering. I can't even keep it in a window to hold it off because of the short winter days. If flowering started, will cloning and reverting to veg cause crippling, forever-damaging stress on the clones?

No a lot of people take clones 1-2 weeks in flowering from "lollipopping".
I can't say that flowering will initiate, but if you can at least get them CLOSE to the window, little light is better then none i would think.

Oh I worded that wrong, I CAN keep it in a window, but the short days would possibly induce flowering. The main worry was cloning after flowering. But yeah some IS better than none.

Just saw female preflowers, I guess I don't have to worry about the shorter days. Rockwool cubes supposed to be here thursday so I'll be cloning then. I guess this thread has run it's course and served it's purpose so If anyone's interested I'll be updating in my journal unless I encounter more problems.
Should I go ahead and switch to 12/12 or wait until after I take cuttings?
