LST newb question

Hello,
Do plants need to be in their permanent home/container before you begin LSTing? Can they be safely transferred maintaining your lst?
I'm thinking of putting some clones into 3 gallon containers under T5's until I'm ready to place them outside in 10 gallons.
They'll probably only be in the 3 gallon pots for a little over a month. Will they outgrow this pot in that amount of time? Should I just go straight to the 10 gallon?

no they do not need to be in their permanant home to begin lst.
spending a little over a month in a 3 gal pot may be pushing it.

I start twisting and bending while still in solo cups then acctually bend and tie down while in 1 gallon and finish off in my 3 gallon pots my plants flower in. Have great results working in that order.
