Wow they can really take some abuse with that broken stem not even slowing it down. I just broken a stem a couple of days ago trying to do some training. I put some tape on it and mist it daily. It doesnt seem to be dying off at all.
Do you prefer to train when the plant is well hydrated or dehydrated?
Is the ak 47 a sativa dominate strain?
Just amazing pictures.

I've seen broken tops hanging on by one rib before looking like nothing's happened. If you lose stems early on the space just fills in with other leaves/branches and the energy's diverted. I snapped some this grow, they were really brittle early on.
My plants are always hydrated, they get watered everyday, sometimes twice a day for a big plant. I've never noticed any difference training at different times.
Ak's a sativa/indica mix. I'd call it a short stretch sativa.
I did serious seeds white russian the same way and ended up with these.
They stretched like fuck after 3 weeks.
This was Nirvana's Papaya, i vegged it longer than the White russian,
(Day 3 of flowering)
and ended up with this,
That was a real slow stretch strain, i knew it as well but i didn't compensate enough. It was the wrong strain for the job really.
Nirvanas PPP (pure power plant) done the same as the AK,

Amazing what a bit of string and some sticks can do,, .
I forgot to mention, sometimes you get small pheno's from strains that are ok for this tek. I usually grow 4 plants, i keep the biggest 2 as full plants then whatever's left gets cut back to make them fit in my small space. Chopping a small pheno back before the late stretch will make it a taller plant in the end so that's how i've got around small pheno's. I probably could have done that to the papaya but i was following it from the beginning and i decided to keep it a full plant even though it was small. It was a pain to train, never again. I doubt Sensi star would take to it either.
If you had clones it wouldn't be a problem. I don't have space for a mother plant.

I just dida papaya grow it was much smaller. What do you use for nutes? It turned out really good though.
Out of ten fem seeds only 3 sprouted.
Everything elsed i ve ordered has sprouted 100% (about 45 seeds).
So i dunno if they were super old or what, but i ve noticed herbies no longer carries it.

Attitude still sell it. It was painfully slow, i had to veg it longer and it had rot at the end. Because it was so low i had to remove loads of leaves/stems. It still yielded over 3 ounce. It's good weed it was just a poor selection for the style, my fault really. I knew AK would be a better plant.
I use Canna's A and B nutes in coco.
It should be done soon, i'll try and stretch it out for another log update.

Yeah mine was super leafy. I really wish i had tied the branches apart.
When do you harvest? I ve been using overdrive on my last two harvests i noticed that the trich s turn amber before the hairs die. Which can lead to white hairs when dry if i dont dry super slow. Trying final phase on this next one to see if a good flush will cause the plant to die on time.
Any way i noticed on one ofyour last pics you onlyhad a few red hairs. Wondered if thats the point of harvest? And if you get all redhairs by the time its dry.

I hope i time the flush right then go when i'm happy. AK's rated for 53-63 days according to their site. I'll go at day 60 unless the deficiencies freak me before. There's still quite a few white hairs, i go off the hairs, the general look of the buds and the extra sway they get in the last week from weight.
I might have done the AK slightly early, i think i would drop the nutes by half next time for a few days, try and stop the run off EC going wild.

I did it tonight, i can't see the point of letting it eat into the buds. It's good enough. My papaya was cut earlier and with no flush at all and that weed's fine, i might not drop it to no nutes at all in future, or just do it for the last few days.
I'll update the log tomorrow, i'm all hot and sticky and it's half 5 in the morning. I talked to serious seeds any they gave me the thumbs up on it being AK. I already had a good idea it was because i found some pics from an old grow. You can draw your own conclusions on the males, Ak's still one of my favorite strains to grow.
There's the other plant to cut yet, it'll be another week at least.

This one rolls in 4 weeks late at 82 days totally raping AK's uniformity,, . It started growing these skinny foxtails in the 8th week, i thought it was stretching because it was far from the light but they actually started filling out. The center bud turned into one of the biggest i've ever had i think. Luckily i think i'll yield the same with 2 plants as i do with 4 so i'll be going 2 again next grow.
Early foxtailing,
Harvest,
I got a healthier fade on the plant, it was on reduced nutes for 3 weeks and flushed for 2 days at the end. I was feeding her 0.8 (plain water EC of 0.3) She was living off 1.3 earlier on if i remember right, same as the other plant but the run off was 1.2 for a good portion of the grow. A slow leech makes a prettier plant i reckon, although starting at 5 weeks on a 8 week strain might be too early.
That draws this grow to an end, thanks for watching. I'll update yields soon.
