Arm yourself with both the arguments for and against cannabis consumption.

This is a good literature review of psychiatric pros and cons of cannabis. http://www.kon.org/urc/v8/bath.html

The main point to remember for the studies that argue against cannabis, is how the studies were conducted - for example, many studies on cannabis consumption have been conducted through self-administered surveys (wtf?) in illegal markets (.)

Understanding what is fundamentally wrong with the conflicting evidence makes for a much stronger case - since there is good evidence and bad evidence, and most of the data collection was poorly conducted, there is little to be said about it.
