Really get on my nerves. I mean are they serious? 
I was on a youtube video and people were arguing if marijuana is a drug or not. One person went as far as to say that carrots must be drugs since they "grow from the ground" like marijuana does.
Ugh I wish people would educate themselves.

It's because people associate the word drug with hard drugs.
I know and understand that it is a drug by definition, but isn't sugar also a drug? And chocolate? I don't even put weed on par with alcohol personally. There's a lot I do high that I would never do drunk. I equate it more to a daily mood stabalizer haha.

seriously though bro what would you consider a " drug" because anything you take into your body to keep it in good health could be considered a drug, by drug you clearly mean narcotic?

actually, I would agree cannabis is not a drug. It's a kind of plant. The cannabanoids are the drugs, that are easily extracted.
The same way the cocaine is the drug, not the plant it's extracted from.
If we label a plant with medicinal or psychoactive chemicals within it as a drug mimosa trees are also drugs. We just only refer to the plant when we buy weed, we never say "hey man do you have a 20 spot of THC"?

My issue is not that cannabis is considered a drug, it is that it is a fucking SCHEDULE 1 SUBSTANCE.
It makes absolutely no sense when you look at the criteria that define those substances, and when you look at the other drugs in that category.

No way bro our government knows what they're doing. I heard if u smoke more than 3 times it means u are legally insane. My health teacher told me 1 joint is 5 cigarettes. I also herd if u mix it with the right kind of beer u get acid n pcp mixed together. My brother's friend did it now he can't even think anymore u don't wanna get caught up w weed man trust me I've seen it first hand.

Yea, but guarana isn't a drug, nor is a coffee plant, nor is a coca plant, nor is a poppy. Even industrial hemp has THC as far as anything I've ever read. I'm just saying quite literally a plant can't be a drug, but there can be drugs in plants. That's why herbal remedies can still be extracts, because you're after chemicals within those plants you can use.

I remember reading about a guy who got sued And Won for creating Cana-oranges..I think I seen it here actually.
Also, coco plants aren't illegal are they? Well in Ukraine they're not. But cocaine sure is.
P.S. you can overdose (and die) from alcohol, and you can overdose (and die) from coffe, but I never heard of someone ODing from bud. Maybe falling asleep with a blunt and setting yourself on fire, but not...oh wait, that's what happened in How High...nvm. Carry on.

Cannabis is not a drug, it's plant, that has chemicals that can be used as drugs in it. I don't think anyone out there is really saying that cannabis doesn't have any drug like effects on your body, but as people have already stated, cannabis falls under the plant category and consuming it could be called a herbal remedy just as easily as a drug.

You guys gave me a lot of good info to use on the next dumbass that awakens my intellectual wrath on this subject. 
I always point this out to people because it really annoys me how uneducated most people are about the subject, it's sad really, most of the people that judge me are much heavier drug users than I am, stuck on cigarettes, alcohol and caffeine, but those are all legal so they can't be all that bad, right?
