last year the average temperature was 30c and we had crazy down pours and my tomatoes all thrived.
this was in my actual outdoor garden so I only fertilized before planting... prehaps some info of your attempted grow would help people answer you?
personally I get a few yards of compost dumped in my back yard and turn the top 1.5-2feet of my garden and mix it all in well. the amount of compost is probably around 15-20%.
did you fertilize with every watering or something?
