 The importance of science in our society.

U.S .related obviously as it's the one I worry about the most, as I live here. But others feel free to chime in.
I obviously value it greatly considering what I want to do with my life, but what do you all think of it? What do you feel of the state science education as a whole is, and how it is compared to what you would think science ed should be? Do you think how our current
Do you believe in many of the widely accepted theories like Evolution/Climate Change?
Anything else you care to mention? Please try not to wall-of text to much.

In terms of our educational systems, I think that the emphasis is much stronger on language and mathematics vs. the sciences. If you're not pursuing a career that is geared toward scientific knowledge, the most a college will require of you is a couple semesters of basic science such as chemistry/biology, and one lab.
I'm not sure how I feel about this, however I know that my understanding of micro sciences like physics, thermal physics, and chemistry give me a much broader applicable knowledge of our world that is applicable to everyday life.
Ignorance of science essentially reduces the world to the workings of either a deity or magic.

In all seriousness though, I like science given its proper context. When it becomes another fundamentalist religion, or worse - polluted by intellectual masturbation calling itself science at the academic level, I can sit back and laugh at it.

It's pretty much the only subject that's always changing. I think of a lot of scientific theories are over active imaginations. The scientific facts on the other hand are pretty much accepted but then again, I remember when we had nine planets.
I too hate the way hipsters use the regurgitated nonsense they picked up from some atheist page on Facebook. It's ridiculous how many people can criticize folks for believing something that's been held as true for thousands of years and yet instantly be sure than man really did in fact descend from apes who actually descended from a bacteria that turned into a primordial soup that just birthed creatures all day.

I think science is really important, in school it was always something I was super interested in. I find it very fascinating, that being said, I don't believe everything science has to say, I believe you must put your own beliefs and thoughts into whatever your looking at. Thinking logically doesn't work all the time.
If your interested in pursuing something in science I'd say go for it

I want to, at least after my undergrad, teach chemistry and physics. I just hate some issues we have politically that are obviously just people who don't believe what the vast majority of scientists believe (climate change and evolution). I mean we know how the depletion of ozone happens down to the molecular reaction, but some people are still like "NOT TRUE!!!!"

Wait....what? Thinking logically doesn't work? Yeah yeah I know you said "all the time." But the point of science to to take ideas and thoughts and put them through the scientific method to test them.
What is science saying that you don't believe?
