Getting started

Hello all,
I jumped in with both feet, and now have a 4'X4'X7' tent taking up a lot of my man-cave. I just wanted to say Hi and to maybe get some information on the strains that I bought seeds for:
Auto Sweet Tooth Low Girl BioDiesel Mass Critical Jack Herer Automatic Ultraviolet Blue OG Diesel Auto White Lavender
I will be starting with four plants, or maybe six, as I fully expect to learn as I go (I resisted typing "as I fail" ;0).
I bought a ducted lamp, a 600 Watt ballast, both HPS and a HID Conversion bulbs, and a 6" inline fan and ducting to draw air through the lamp and then out of the tent.
I loved the DIY carbon filter tek here and plan to add one of these to the intake inside the tent.
Take care all,
JD

Sounds fun. What's your grow medium?

Post some pics
I would start with the non-auto flowering, they can be a little tricky.

Thank you both for the kind attention.
I got auto-flowers after seeing friends on a different site (myco-tek) getting great harvests with this type of seed.
I have grown before, but we are talking about a cardboard box with a moveable ceiling with a brace of CFLs embedded in it, and with pretty much bunk seeds from a bag of cheap mexi-smoke. So, I expect better things this time around.
I am a TC, when it comes to Gourmet and Exotic mushrooms....*not* for the herbage.
Here is a image of the box now dominating the man-cave:
(the lights in the corner are for a mushroom greenhouse...I had just cleaned the man-cave completely to reset the fungus gnat situation, but that corner will have a greenhouse and that shelf will be recovered with colonizing substrates and petris as soon as I move them back into place)
Here is a rough view of lighting/cooling setup:
I absolutely loved the DIY carbon filter tek that I found here. I am thinking that I will probably add one to the air path before the lamp. (and perhaps an ONA bucket at the output too...we will see)
The soil that I selected for my initial attempt was FF Ocean Forest.
The nutrients that I am starting with are Pure Blend Pro (Veg and Bloom), Liquid Karma, and Silica Blast. This is a bewildering area, with so many options.
BTW, at the grow shop I saw a bottle of Voodoo Juice for more than $800. It was a huge bottle....but damn! :0)
I look forward to posting results and working with you all.
Take care,
JD

Shorten that exhaust tube up. The more bends the less efecient it is in moving air

Good call.
I want to be able to lower the light, but saw that I had over done it.
My seeds are still on the way, so I have time to tinker.
Thanks!

Hey, free co2!! I would be careful with the products you use, many soils and some coir are inoculated with beneficial organisms, one of these is trichoderma, one of the last things you want around your mycelium.

Understood. Trich is good for plants, and some brands of coir and other material are actually treated with it.
My "lab" (i.e. where my flowhood is) is in another room.
Only fruiting subs are exposed in my man-cave.
Thanks for the time.
