I really want everything that is the Macbook Air but without buying another apple product.
The Asus Zenbook is pretty damn close but asus has horrible customer satisfaction ratings.
The Lenovo Thinkpad tablet/notebook is pretty awesome, and Lenovo has great ratings, but the thing is butt fuck ugly- looks like one of those old IBMs.
Any suggestions worth looking at?
Basically I want a higher-end notebook that is relatively mobile- 13-14" screen.

The only thing I can say to help you is: If it is a laptop, watch the air exit thangs, dont pick one where they are under the computer, mine is like that and it keeps overheating.... its quite annoying as fuck ...

im looking for a new one atm also...ipad and im prolly getting an acer tower and using older things left for the rest..
i will need an mac for graphic design though..hm

And how can you hate computer shopping. If I had the money to do it more often, I would. Now that I have a job, possibly a 2nd job, I am dying to do some Black Friday shopping come that time and hopefully build myself a nice desktop, or at least get most of the components at that time
As long as that QuickFix shit works on drug tests, then I should be starting my overnight position soon. And I got to call back Best Buy here in a minute, she's doing an over the phone interview which is a good sign. Hopefully they need seasonal people real bad and arent being too picky about who they hire. I would love to work at Best Buy again, they have awesome discounts

Ive never known anyone who has owned one of those
ASUS and HP are my 2 favorite mass manufacturers

They are usually more expensive, but they are compared to Macbooks in quality.

Having built a couple computers from friends, I learned not to overspend on computers. You get what your components give you, so if you can find a cheaper system that has good core components than that's the way I usually go.
250 GB Harddrive (main harddrive)
6 GB RAM (big improvement from my old 4GB system)
Processor is one of my favorite ones 2nd only to the i7, but I have the i5 2.5GHz
The only thing I want to improve on it is the graphics card but that will come after I get a few paychecks. and If I am working for best buy, I should be able to get some really good deals
edit- oh, and that cost me 450$+tax so like just under 500$

Apparently Asus is currently under investigation with the BBB due to horrible service issues.
I just hate shopping for laptops because it's one of those things I feel like I can't make an ideal decision, every option is a compromise in some aspect. I just don't feel like the selection is that great.

you can take my hours of researching computers instead of doing it yourself. i solved the problem. the answer is the u300s

Fuck Apple products, except the ipod. that thing is alright.
That's a little strange to see from ASUS, Everyone I know with an ASUS laptop has been happy with it. But I havent had to deal with their customer service yet

Apple makes a super quality product.
This is coming from a hardcore PC/Android guy. I hate apple fanboys. I'm not a fan of apples business ethics either. And sure, there products (based solely on hardward) are overpriced.
That being said, their devices are very very nice to use. Have real good craftsmanship, and they integrate hardware and software better then anyone else out there right now.
