MLO (Marijuana Liberation Operation) - Baltic State @ Europe

Hey all,
Greetings from a small Baltic state. Poor northern European I&I ain't doing anything with my life except for working to make some cabbage and dreaming.
I've been pussy-footing around in my life for a while now. One of my big passions - pondering the potential of psychedelics (what literary technique do you call that, that repetition of words that begin with the same letter?) and making real that potential - has taken a backseat to more conventional methods of making cabbage and getting by in life. But I know deep down that that won't fly, not forever. And preferably not even for a short while.
Ever since I first smoked weed, dropped acid, took mushrooms at the tender(and slightly too young, I admit) age of 14, I've known that these tools have great potential, and that I wanted to promote them. Now is as good a time as any.
I invite you, the Growery, on my first post here, to help plan and perhaps even execute an operation to soften the drug laws in a country where William S. Burroughs' statement about alcohol being the national drug, and every other drug being regarded with a special kind of horror, still holds true very much - at least among the older generations.
It is a post-Soviet state, with 2 million inhabitants, give or take a few hundred thousand. Sentences for marijuana growing, distribution, use are harsh, and the prisons here - well, they haven't gotten upgraded or received any extra finance since the Soviet Union collapsed. But demand is high(hehe), and so the supply is there - expensive and low-quality, but definitely there. The gypsy gangs are in cahoots with corrupt cops in the capital city.
What would you do? To raise awareness of the many pot smokers that exist here, that creates a movement and a demand for a change in the laws, to get marijuana - if not legalised or even decriminalised - at least more accepted?
Here are some of my thoughts.
- Translate research about the safety of marijuana from English into the two main local languages. There isn't enough(if any) research about marijuana's safety/positives in the language of the Common People.
- Hold discussions in the various underused cultural centers around the capital. They can start out informal, but preferably would at some point include LE representatives, public health specialists, economists, etc.
- Send letters to the Man. Hell, who knows what might come of that. If some schmuck parliamentarian sees enough letters from people about decriminalising pot on his desk, he might just jump at the opportunity.
- Create an organisation that specifically addresses this issue. A local NORML. Make it cool to join - like Otpor in Serbia.
- Stay as squeaky clean as possible, develop a strong security culture so that various hostile parties have a harder time fucking up your life.
I would love to hear more from you, and will try to implement the good ideas, as well as provide updates on how things are looking/going/etc.
Thank you very very much!
