 Why is it sparkling?

Just got some green from a buddy. When we lit it, it started sparking (almost like a sparkler) and burnt pretty quickly. It doesn't really taste like any weed i've had before either. Any ideas here guys?

The grower didnt flush it well if at all is what that means. Still a lot of nasty shit in there thatll just ruin the taste and cause headaches.

when i was 20ish i worked at a pizza joint. one of the cooks would spray his buds with Hairspray, he claimed it got him TRASHED.

I've been under the lights since the early 80s and have seen just a few batches of badly flushed weed and can't recall any of it going up like a sparkler.

For what its worth, thats what I was always told too. Improperly flushed. I dunno how much truth there is to that, but its just what I know :P
Never had one pop and sparkle THAT much, but a little for sure.

Can it be synthetic marijuana? I only say this cos I have never seen any and I have never had any sparkly herbs, maybe a tiny sparkle when a trichome caught the reflection off a sun ray....

I have seen it three times in the last couple years just helping friends get going. The only times I saw it was when I was dealing with three newbs who didnt flush, or read their book, apparently..
Plenty of online reviews saying the same, along with what I saw and experienced on a few occasions.
Absolutely can be caused from improper flushing.
Although Im sure there are plenty of things that could have been added or done to it that is causing it.

Never seen this from improper flushing. I've just not flushed because I was being lazy and this hasn't happened. I don't think that's the reason....although I don't know what is.

Yeah I don't think weed that goes like a sparkler is caused by badly flushed weed. I've seen quiet a bit in 27 years under lights.
Now weed that burns like a sparkler is one thing weed that sparkles I've grown

That's what I was thinking. I have seen this happen before with chem herb that has not been flushed and was full of fert salts, snap, crackle, pop dude.
OP, I just wouldn't smoke it man.
Edit: I would really like to know what is up with this, I have only seen it twice but am not convinced the "fert salt" reason is what causes this, and seeing that other members don't know makes me want to know even more.

We had loads of sandy weed in the UK, they spray silica sand on it while it's growing, there was a silicosis scare and all the police could say was "well people shouldn't be doing it anyway". You can make water hash with it, all the sand sinks straight to the bottom.
