Hey y'all. This is my first post, but I just wanted to share a poem I wrote this morning. I smoked a joint of 'pure kush' and watched a caterpillar sit still. And wondered. Puff, puff, was born. Feel free to offer input, criticism or just discuss
Puff, puff. Smoking stuff Makes the stream slow down. Currents that rush and ebb and flow Ideas and thoughts—the things I know. They crash, collide, and tumble by No sign of the end, no clear reason why. Sitting on my mushroom discerning with wonder, Truth, life, purpose—oh, they burst asunder!
Inhale, exhale. Vapors entail Illusions of circumstance, misunderstood. Whether life is munching a leaf or scaling a twig, My existence is happy, not too grand or too big; Day in and day out, I do what I do, Not looking to win and not looking to lose. Yet just as it seems my purpose’s uncovered Summer is here, new directives discovered. I am what I am—but that’s instrumental to, I’m told, A cocoon’d vacation, yielding buttery wings of gold. From flower to flower, I could so gracefully flap Hunting sweet nectar would fill in life’s lonely gap! From sit and ponder to fly and wander, But surely this can’t be free…
Puff, puff. Smoking stuff Makes the gears turn round. Behind the smoke and mirrors, lies my existential fear After I’m a butterfly how long can I stay here? Surely I will die, metamorphosis complete, With nothing left to live for, no goals left to meet. I know the world around me, seen and heard and touched, As brushstrokes in a painting—that’s already been brushed. These things that I know were here before, Tomorrow without me, they’ll be here some more. No matter how or if I change or not, The fact remains I’m all I’ve got.
Perhaps it’s best I just stay me, Puffing my hookah, alone in my tree.
Thanks man, I really appreciate the feedback as well as the warm welcome. It's a shame that this message board--dedicated to the open and tolerant culture that we share in support of our common good--is so heavily tainted with the negativity, disrespect, and intolerance that I would never come expect from fellow stoners. Is it by such behavior that you expect to change the mind of those who judge us by our lifestyles? Malicious conduct does not breed progress, it creates division. Imagine not having to hide behind a forum to promote your ideas about pot. Imagine not having to create a screen name to protect your private actions from the abuse of unjust laws. We can't accomplish the progress that we're all after in our own ways, be it poetry, jokes, blogs, photos, stories or what have you, if we're too busy attacking each other's way of doing things. I don't mean to sound preachy or any bullshit like that, but c'mon guys--one love.
Thing is, we all come from very different walks of life 'round here. I'm not a hippie, nor would I ever write poetry, but more power to you if you want to man.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

You seem really intelligent, and your poem was bomb! I wanna smoke with you, It'd be sick to have an intellectual conversation, and free-flowing imagination, with a fellow toker.
