I agree more appropriate categories may be necessary soon. But proper forum theory indicates that the split should occur when the number of posts in a forum becomes too great. The subcategory at the Shroomery is actually very cool and maybe could be applied to the cultivation forum here.
I would say when the number of posts (not dumb posts sometimes found in the Smoke Lounge) pushes a post off a forum in 12-24 hours is when the category has been overloaded.
This prevents people from coming up with forum ideas and insisting they are necessary only to have a barren forum that gets less traffic than Podunk, USA.
The categorical labeling allows people to view all the topics should they choose, instead of clicking clicking clicking to all the forums.
