finally i can have the freedom to grow instead of being at the mercy of the dealers lol
only problem ive never grown before
i grew shrooms and the teks really helped out
will be an indoor closet , so stealth and size important
i have no equipment or anything whatsoever , besides my shroom stuff
so i can take this in any direction
not asking for aa writeup just a tek for someone of my inexperience
thanks in advance
oh and budget between under $1000, hopefully less

Teks don't really work for marijuana like they do for shrooms. Growing MJ is quite a bit more complicated with a whole hell of a lot more options and variables.
Purchase
http://www.amazon.com/Indoor-Marijuana-Horticulture-The-Bible/dp/1878823299
Read up and then ask specific questions.
You're going to need to look at what kind of lighting you want, ventilation, substrate, nutrient line, and what kind of seeds you want.

Well I have a few questions so the people here can help you out.
How much do you want to grow for each harvest?
Will you be able to drill vent holes in this new house of yours' or is that out of the question?

As haxk stated above, you're going to want to do some reading and research to know which way you'd like to go.
Curious to know if you plan to do hydro, soil, or soilless grow?
Also you said a personal grow. So about how much do you smoke per month?

Just because it's a closet grow doesn't mean that you're limited to one thing or another. The way is wide open.
So buy that book and do some research. It will pay off in the long run.
I would go with a 400 watt system if you are looking to pull 4 ounces.

Well the soil/hydro thing is a personal choice. Some say to start with soil to learn easier, I however disagree with that and say start with what you're going to want and learn that. I'm a hydro grower, soil does get along with me. Four oz is easily pulled under a 400 watt light with some experience. This is my opinion on a light to room size scale. 400 watts 4 to 6 square feet 600 watts 6 to 9 square feet 1000 watts 9 to 16 square feet
My opinion on ventilation is to change to air in the room at a rate no less than 5 times a minute. Remember smell can be an issue so a carbon filter is needed 90% of the time, be sure to make sure it is rated for the fan you've chosen.

ya def for under alot less then 1000 bucks u can rig a nice little set up. kinda sounds like u want to be small? t5 or compact floros maybe?
hydro is def doable first time out BUT if you do soil first it is MUCH more forgiving id say and a good way to learn what some deficiencies ph problems look like without loosing ur plants. plus u can save urself a bit of start up cost not having to buy a hydro set up and all the other costs that are associated with it. 4 dollar pot and 8 bucks in potting soil ull be good to go, and maybe a few amendments or ferts when/if ya want.
there is a great TEK type write up here at the growery too, it takes u right through the whole process.

I did soil for my 1st grow but I have bigger rooms to grow in so I went with a 1000w set up.
hers some of my initial start up costs.
lights - 288.50
lights I recommend for your set up- http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-400W-HPS-PLANT-GROW-LIGHT-SYSTEM-HYDRPONIC-HID-X-/150842577268?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231eeb1174#ht_2286wt_1177
carbon filter and fan - 168.50
for you - http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-CARBON-FILTER-COMBO-INLINE-FAN-EXHAUST-HYDROPONIC-/160829609564?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257231165c#ht_1665wt_1177
extra reflector hood for veg room light - $40
then I got Fox farm nutes, 3 bottles (big bloom/grow big/tiger bloom) = $50
FF happy frog soil or FF ocean forest - $16-$20 (varies from place to place)
2 gal pots @ 1.10 each
watering can - $5
5 gal buckets for mother plants to live in and to clone off of = $2
built my own aeroponic cloner = $77
I bought a grow tent also but you dont need it unless you want to spend another $115
plus drill bits, tape, other items needed for random things/fixes etc..
it depends on how much you want to grow if you clone or keep mothers etc... and grow year round then you'll need temp controls etc. lots of factors to cost but that should help you ball park it
my 1st grow is in my sig. fyi

And said he can cut holes into the attic. Go for the HID lighting system. It pays for itself in the long run?

I would def go with an hid setup. Especially a 400 watt setup for your closet. I run two 8 bulb t5's and one 4 bulb t5 in my veg room.....and I really wish I had bought a hid setup instead.
I also have a friend that has flowered under t5's and the results weren't the greatest. If you can't go with hids then try cfl's.
For well under a 1000 you can pimp that closet right out......easily. all the bells and whistles
