It's used to sterilise equipment and substrate etc. Without sterilising things mold will take over fast and ruin your mushroom grow.
It can be time consuming to prepare everything but the joy of being presented with a successful grow is great.
Pressure cookers are very handy and can be used for multiple things other than cooking. You can use them for the micropropagation of plants when you need to sterilise agar and blades for cuttings etc. You can also use them to sterilise bandages or things that you might need for taking care of a wound or something.

I have no choice. I need mushrooms to abort frequent migraines. If I don't grow them then my quality of life becomes unbearable. Kinda sucks cos I can't take the stuff with me whilst traveling which can leave me in a shit situation if caffeine doesn't work.

I'd say they're not hard to grow but some might think otherwise. It involves a fair bit of reading to get started but after that it's smooth sailing and the process becomes automatic. You basically just need to use sterile technique during some stages and follow instructions. Preparing a mushroom grow can also be quite time consuming during some stages. However, so can looking after a good crop of plants.
You can buy kits online, however, I didn't have that choice. They can also be expensive and you can save yourself a lot by doing it yourself. You'll also learn to become self sufficient and you don't have to risk sending potentially illegal things in the mail.
Growing my own also gives me a stable and constant supply which is cheap. I also know that what I'm getting is good.

That's a good little tool. I have one like that, a 30x loupe, and a 60x-100x adjustable without leds, and that's my favorite one to use. Shouldn't have cost ya $15 though... I've found em on amazon for $4-6 including shipping.

It happens a lot... I bought 10 of em, sold em to someone for $7 each and he put em on his table at the farmer's market for $15 each and sold em all. It's all about researching before buying...
