he lived exactly as he wanted. so what if he got eaten by a bear? he lived more in 13 years than most people ever will in a lifetime.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

the grizzly man, Timothy Treadwell. he lived with bears for 13 years like they accepted him, and then him and his girlfriend were eaten by them.

Werner Herzog is a pretty intense director. i think my favorite film by him is "Fitzcaraldo". Which the making of is almost as good as the main film

He should have retired after 13 years. People would call him Superman bear. He could have been more famous if he lived.

I was really drunk watching the movie on Netflix when I posted this.
The guy was genuinely insane I think after watching...but then, I feel like he is on the same level as me, which makes me wonder if I'm insane. Since he lived in the wilderness by himself for so long, he'd talk into the camera and just have crazy mental breakdowns.
Now, I don't find myself crying about stupid shit all the time, but some of the conversations he had with himself (presumably to keep himself sane) I've had with myself...just not to the crazy extent he did, nor out loud. It makes me wonder if I went to live with bears for 4 months like 100+ miles from civilization if I'd go just as crazy as he did.
He had a fox that was his friend. It literally followed him around like a dog, he said for 10 years that he stayed there it followed him. That part was really cool and made me want a fox friend.
Also - he didn't want fame. He wanted to save the bears habitat...but it was obvious that he was trying to look cool while he did it. He'd redo takes like 5 times each time wearing a different bandana to look cool. While that seems extremely pathetic, I get it I guess. He ended up getting eaten because he stayed past when the bears who knew him had gone into hibernation. A new group of bears moved in that weren't familiar with him and were really hungry and pre-hibernation. The bear who ended up eating him was 28 so it was really protective of its territory because it knew he was old and vulnerable. I bet he could have done it for another 13 years if he hadn't stayed past when the bears started hibernating.

Dude didnt live with them for 13 years, he went there and stayed for 13 summers is what I read. He would leave every year before the bears started packing on weight for hibernation but in that last year he fucked up and got careless
Steve Irwin was wayyyy more gangster, that dude went out and pokes shit in the ass and stuff. No joke, was watching this morning and I forget what kind of animal it was but he definitely molested it and wondered why it was pissed off at it. "Look at the nipples on her (he starts rubbing them), animal starts squirming, he says "guess she didnt like that." Wanna say it was a warthog/wild pig/ boar thing

I don't think it's very fair to compare the two :/ apples and oranges.
Regardless, he lived a life that I'm sure lived up to his expectations, until that fatal mistake. If I could have such a relationship with animals, I would. The earth's creatures are beautiful, and often overlooked.
But yeah. Props to him. So what if he died out there, he got out there and LIVED, rather than staying inside and hiding from everything out there on our awesome planet. Fuck desk jobs.

He was kindof a cocky asshat about it, but I dunno. I can look past that, because I just really like the fact that he just did exactly what he wanted.
