This reminds me quite a bit of the Half Life storyline. I've only just started reading it. It was slow going in the beginning, but once you get through the intro and the SCP-001 stuff, it really picks up.
From what I gather, these are the most important ones to read when just starting out:

I know its slow starting, but I promise if you like reading and enjoy scifi, you won't be disappointed by this! Its intimidating at first, but once I got through the beginning of it, I really started to enjoy it. Those links I gave are the minimum I'd suggest reading of the intro.

The origins of many creepypastas I read back in the day  hadn't browsed it in years except when the hype of these games based on stories on SCP have surfaced.
Cool stuff for sure, worth looking through.

Yeah, I think I read a number of creepy pastas from here as well.
I guess anyone looking to read could certainly start with number 2 and continue. You won't have any background knowledge, but at least then you jump right into the fun stuff.
