Our lodge helps kids with dyslexia, feeds homeless and impoverished, helps people who have been horrifically burned, hosts a summer camps for disadvantaged youth.  There is a lot of support we show for one another and our families too, especially when times get rough.  Otherwise, it does a lot of things that other fraternities do.  College fraternities support the same kind of bonds that the Masonic fraternity does.  People leave college fraternities and give special privileges to their fraternity brothers for the rest of their lives.

Masonry also uses symbolism, stories, and teaching systems to help individuals grow and seek paths of fulfillment.  It is non-denominational.  Three of the members of our lodge do not believe in the Bible at all, but we still all get along.  Some lodges use Buddhist scriptures, Korans, or whatever spiritual book is most commonly used by the members of the lodge.  It is a pretty open system.  About the only men that can't join are convicted felons and atheists.

The fact that people get so excited over Masonic conspiracy is very amusing.  Any group with as many members as the Masons will eventually find haters.  And any big group eventually gets a few bad apples.  In fact, it gives me an ego boost every time someone makes the Masons out to be more than what they are.  I'm not going to stop someone from thinking I am a part of a group that controls the world's destiny.  That's too much fun and fantasy for me to pass up.
