They do this program in tons of countries all over the world. Im still interested I just have to get a degree first and actually have some formal education. Then I can have more funz
oh my god, i want to do that so bad. but i never thought there were actual programs for it! is it a must to have a degree in order to do it? i don't think anybody would take me in with nothin but an 8th grade education and street smarts. hah
no you dont need a degree. I bet a very small percent of people who do that program have a degree. You simply look for what country you want to WWOOF in, and you start looking through the different families, their lifestyles, and what they are looking for. If you find one that interests you, you call them or whatever and make arrangements.
some countries require visas and what not, so you need to look into that. I wanted to do WWOOF in Australia but it was just too expensive.
Canada does free WWOOF meaning you dont need any special visa or anything. You can just go work and they dont bother your. I believe you can even get free healthcare if injuried while working in Canada.
I have known several people who have done it in places from Panama to Cuba, to Germany. And never have I heard a negative experience.
no problem its a great program to learn about organic farming and becoming self-sufficient which is one of my longterm goals.
usually you pick a country first, then pay a small fee, anywhere from free to 40$ and they send you a packet of all the current families that are participating in the program.
or you could probably make a post on shroomery and see if anyone has these packets, they change yearly I believe.
i have also heavily considered wwoof'ing. i want to wait until im older, though, so i can get the most out of the experience. a buddy of mine went to costa rica as part of a similar program.
http://www.wwoof.org/ for more info. if i ever go, it will be ecuador or costa rica. im trying to use more spanish in my daily life, as I live in Texas and there are lots of Mexicans to converse with.
i also consider maybe having to flee the US of A one day, if things keep going the way they are going and don't change soon. national ID cards, ever more pervasive population surveillance/tracking, etc.
