Smart Pots

Hey y'all- was wondering what experience people had with smart pots... From what I've read and heard from a single friend thats used them is that they are better for root systems than black plastic.. while i believe it, I just started using them a couple days ago.. My question is this- If you are using say a 1 gallon smart pot- is transplanting to a larger smart pot difficult in any way? Simply because the walls are not sturdy- I assume roots with grow to the walls and hold the soil and plant together- just making sure none has had a weird experience with them before i go full on smart pot... Any good or bad reviews would be greatly appreciated=)
Thanks a ton y'all

I just transplanted from 5 gal buckets to 7 gal square pots (identical to smart pots). So I can't give you a review yet, but I'm fairly certain that it would work just like any other pot. A well established root system should hold your medium together just fine.
Let me know how you like those smart pots. I'll be sure to post my results in this thread.

That's not what he's asking joe. He's asking about the difficulty in transplanting from one smart pot to the other.
But unfortunately I have never used smart pots, I prefer my 35 gallon rubbermaids. I would ask the guy at your grow store if you don't get an answer here.

I'm sorry. I didn't explain myself well at all. I was a little stoned when I typed that....lol.
I meant that a well established root system should hold everything together just fine during a transplant no matter what you choose to use for a pot.
My apologies!

You guys are on to what i was asking- i guess i didn't say it specifically enough. Thanks a ton for your responses=) still obviously learning a lot stage for me- but i suppose that will be a permanent situation in this pursuit=) Are the roots going to entangle in the pot itself? do roots grow through these things like peat pots? Just wanted to be sure you could repot them if you desired a larger medium to allow a plant to grow significantly larger..

This I'm unsure of. The guy I bought them from at the hydro store uses them through all stages of growth. He loves them. And also re uses them several times. I feel like he would have warned me about it if it was a real issue.

i dont think the roots go threw i have only used them in flower but even root bound plants never put roots out the side or bottom of the pot.

i have use those smart pots for many different purposes, I would never try to transplant from one smart pot to the next you can leave it in the smart pot and put it in a bigger smart pot the roots will grow through. They work really good for outside use, you can put you clones in one and set it outside and come back in the fall and get your ladies back and bring a shovel the roots will be growing through the bottom like no ones business, or running a drip system these work great for that, the roots will get air pruned and the root ball gets enormous. The best feature is air can pass through the bags letting your roots to get maximum air and when your done you can just soak them rinse them out and go again, one note if your using shooting powder or mother of all blooms make sure you really rinse them out you don't want that stuff lingering around during the veg. stage on the next cycle,
