The republican primaries make me Laugh, most about the fact that a gay soldier talking about how he had to lie about himself with DADT got booed by the audience and none of the candidates really cared. Also certain people that want to get rid of much of the Federal government are crazy. Mostly because I'd be terrified to live in kansas if the state gov had almost complete say as to what laws existed here and such, sam brownback (brownstain) has been fucking this state up ever since obama to Sebelius from us (Not that she isn't still being awesome, but damn did I love her).
I'm trying not to sound to flaming in this post though.
Overall I'm about 99.99% sure obama will win; with almost no contest when it comes to how much he wins by.

yeah, i've resigned to the fact that it doesn't even matter, rep or dem. it's just a figurehead position anymore. the money is the problem here. i was SOOOOO fucking livid when i read the Citizens United ruling in 2010. now there's no sense in even watching or caring about this bullshit unless you're brainwashed enough to think you can still make a difference. it's sad, but that's my perspective.

I had been a Ron Paul supporter until I saw that he was a Fundamentalist and didn't believe in evolution. I don't know if it's wise to base my psuedo-support in the political realm in light of such personal views. As for the Citizens United, corporations just have the power to spend money- they don't necessarily make the vote for us. We still have the choice to be fooled, complacent, investigative, stubborn, etc. But I kinda do agree it's just a figurehead position- controlled by external systems way too big/complex for us to easily fathom. I once entertained the parallel of the presidency to football.
I wish our Founding Fathers were still around or at least haunted the White House.

I empathize with the notion that it doesn't really matter who is in office, at least in the sense that either party will just be catering to corporations.
But it REALLY DOES MATTER who's in out senate and congress. These are people we elect directly. And can actually sway the decisions they make with our voice. Just look at the SOPA bill that we just got defeated through ground roots organisation and decent companies taking a stand. All is not lost as long as we don't let it happen.

Also when it comes to interior issues have a democratic president in the office can actually help a lot. Obama just nixed a big pipline being ran through the midwest because he could see that there hadn't been a decent enough study on impact in the region it was going to be running through.

its a delicate balance, between political will and money. i wonder how much of that decision was based on political will rather than 'science'. These people have to have some morals, ya know.

Regardless of whether it was just his morals speaking or not enough scientific review they went hand in hand. Do you think Bush would have done the same??

As a republican from Texas I should abstain from such conversations but to be honest I am just glad Perry dropped out. After Bush I think we would be banned from elections if Perry had got very far; dude is just bad news.

I hate all the GOP candidates, except Ron Paul that is. It looks like Rick Perry is going to win the GOP election, but both he and Gingrich are horrible, vile, evil, scummy pieces of shit. I don't hate Obama, but I hate a few of the things he has done. Obama will probably win his second term and that's good because it means that it won't be Gingrich or Perry but I can think of a few other people I'd rather see in charge. I'll probably end up for voting for Ron Paul, or maybe Gary Johnson and Buddy Roemer isn't bad either. But I agree with Bill Hicks- anyone who wants to be president shouldn't be allowed to run and the president is just another puppet anyways.

Yeah but he hasn't worked to reform marijuana law and didn't stop going after medical patients. But I'll take him over a republican any day.

To be quite honest I'm never going to expect a successful presidential candidate to champion cannabis reform.
I mean I pretty much hold your same opinion other than the fact I feel Obama > RP because I don't like a lot of Ron Pauls political baggage.
