Stepping It Up 3600W - 5 Strains - FFOF - AN

2012 is here and so is this grow, bitches! I have had a few harvests since my last log, the last was merely OK, tried smaller plants, never again lol. Here I now have 3 1000W HPS vented lights, 1 vertical 600W MH conversion bulb, 8" HO Can Fan (barely keeps up), small veg/clone op, and 12 budding females. All dirt you will see is Fox Farm Ocean Forest. I am using RO water and Advanced 3 Part with GH Cal Mag, Liquid Kool Bloom, Floralicius + and Bloom, and of course... Blackstrap Molasses. I used HCO Bushmaster to control height this time around. I vegged for 8 weeks in these 5gal buckets then applied the BM the 3rd day of 12/12, they were about 1 foot when I put them in there and about 4.5' when I started 12/12. They only stretched 2"-4" after treating w/ Bushmaster.
STRAINS:
Diesel (G13 Labs) Train Wreck (prob Greenhouse) OG Kush White Widow Sensi Star G13 (still in VEG)
Aside from the Diesel everything else came as a clone so lineages are hazy (not the famous sativa!) at best. The G13 is NOT flowering at this time. I have grown and know the Diesel, I have been smoking on the TW and it is not too damn bad. The others will be new for me with these exact cuts. I have grown WW before, not sure if this is the same breeder though. The G13 is a cut I sampled and it's very good.
So santa left some upgrades to the power around my hut...
That's a sub panel fed by a 40A 220V breaker in the main box. The lights run off a 30A 220V breaker in the sub panel that powers the 4 220V outlets coming off the big timer, there is a 110V breaker supplying power for the fans and some other incidental things with the small timer there.
Right across from there you will see this:
4 G13 clones and 30 others (OG, WW, SS) in the EZ. Notice the LST on the G13, I waited until they had about 9 nodes and were about 6"-7" tall and just bent them over in a 'U' shape and tied them to their main stems. They have been under these T5's for about 3 weeks.
Step Inside! This will be the good part. Soon, anyway. It's day 5 of 12/12
AN 3part @ 1.5tsp/gal Floralicius + @ 1ml/gal Bushmater @ .5ml/gal only 2 applications, at day 3 and day 5 pH 6.3 - 6.8
Close-ups of the tops still only at day 5 of 12/12

WW:

nice set up. have you considered weight training during flowering? you seem to have a lot of blank space and uneven plants some training would help keep everything nice and tame. anyway nice healthy looking plants

I hadn't really considered it. There are 4 plants under each 1KW'er and they are matched for even height as much as possible. The tallest plant is the diesel (about 5'10") and it's only about 2"-3" taller than the others under its light. One light is similar and the third is lower with it's plants only being about 4'6" tall, the pics are hard to show everything in because the room is only 8x8 and more than 3/4 full of plant and fan and stuff.
But each plant has lots of vertical growth and 1 or more predominant tops. The ones with fewer tops are more x-mas tree shape but will provide 1 or more nice large colas with lots of smaller side buds. Everything was trained early in veg to provide multiple large tops and lolly-popped at the flowering transition. I will LP again and remove some of the slow, shaded, growth after 14 days 12/12. I like tops.

cool well at least now you know its an option. i have done LST up to two weeks before harvest and not seen any negative effects.

I have done lots of LST through flowering, but when you have 50+ tops to bend it just gets tedious and hurts my thumb and finger after a while. I once broke out a screwdriver and bent the stems over that to relieve the pain.
But then again, you mentioned weight training, didn't you? I haven't tried that method I think since I first started LSTing. I'm more likely to tie the growing tips down or bend those fuckers.

Haha, we used a hacksaw. It was a small job so it didn't take too long. Maybe a small hand-held jigsaw would work for you? A little more gentle than a sawzall... what do the pros use on big jobs? I'll bet there is some kind of conduit cutter tool....

12/12 DAY 17 Update! [Re: Farmer Joe]

Well then, here we are at day 17, I fed this week (on Tuesday) as follows:
Cal mag @ 2tsp/gal ( = 10ml x 10gal = 100ml) AN 3 pt @ 2tsp/gal ( = 10ml x 10gal = 100ml) Liq KB @ 2.5ml/gal ( x 10gal = 25ml) Floralicious + @ 1ml/gal ( x 10gal = 10ml) Diamond Nector @ 3tsp/gal ( = 15ml x 10gal = 150ml) pH @ 6.7
I seem to be having a K and or mag def, I think the soil pH is getting a little low and the RH is a bit on the low side which increases the plants respiration contributing to K def. Anyways, here are some pics of

UPDATE Day 28 of 12/12
You can see a 4th light socket in these pics. My room is 8'x8' and only 3/4 full. I have an extra 600W HPS ballast so I plan on adding a vertical 600W MH conversion bulb where you see the socket, but the bulb I bought was dead so I don't quite have a 3600W grow. Not quite. When I do, the plants will be shifting positions every day to make sure they all get some blue rays.
Under this light is, clockwise from bottom left, Sensi Star, Train Wreck, OG Kush and Train Wreck.
Sensi Star
OG Kush
Now lets move up and to the right.
Under this light we have, same order except we turned to the right, TW, Diesel, TW, White Widow.
Diesel (9 or 10 tops on one plant, each cola is about 8"-10" before the nodes start branching out a little)
White Widow
Now to the right again, this time ALL TRAIN WRECK!
Well, I'll see you spectators later!

Are you sure your bulb was dead? Some bulbs can only be lit when mounted a certain way.

I forgot to mention the Sensi Star has the strongest smell in the room atm. It's buds smell of acrid pine/skunk and fermented fruit in vomit. Not too strong like vomit. Just, the vomit smell comes through between the fruit and skunk/pine. I quite like it.
Oh, that bulb is in fact good, I had it checked where I bought it. The ballast I'm using for it is the problem. I had to replace the (stupidly) hardwired power cord because the ground plug broke off. While I was in there the shrink wrap on one of the clips on the voltage selector switch cracked, and fell off. I managed to get the bulb to fire once and then turned it off. I thought it would be a good idea to shake the ballast a little to kind of flush out any problems and see if there was any loose connections. Indeed, I could not fire the bulb after letting it cool down (several hours). So I opened it up again, this time took off the top and saw the manufacture date written on the underside: 11/21/2002 lol
Also seems like some of the plastic has gone brittle, like the shrink wraps. There's some weird plastic "droplets" stuck to the transformer's taps like it was slowly dripping off it while it was wall mounted, but never managed to actually drop. I should take a pic of the insides. Anyways, the terminals on the voltage switch now seem loose, I'm going to try bypassing that switch and if it still doesn't work, then the ignitor and or the capacitor is bad. I hear the transformers rarely fail, though the stalactite-like plastic formations are a slight source of concern.

600W MH conversion bulb is in and ignited! I turned out to be correct about the voltage selector switch. I removed the leads for the hot line and the 120v line and stripped the ends and wire nutted them together, and BAAAAAAAAAM!
That makes this a 3600W grow now
