 Does anybody know the current status of marijuana laws in Amsterdam?

I'm off to Amsterdam for the first time in early feb. I've been trying to find more information about this new proposed tourist ban but can't find precisely when it will come into affect.
Does anyone know more about this?
I'd be mega pissed if I couldn't go to a coffee shop and have a joint!

Just so I'm 100% certain, I will not be able to buy a joint in a coffee shop and will have to buy weed off some shady character on the street?

Looks like i made it just in time. I just found this article that gives me a bit more of a positive outlook.
Other countries are totally going to cash in on this ban and take most of the tourism.

Well this part makes it look like you should be ok if you are going to Amsterdam before 01.01.13.
