coir salt deposit? 1

Does anyone else notice a white salt build up on top of their coco after feeding? Is something wrong?
I think its the calmag that does it, it really builds up quick on my teaspoon too.
Is this normal?

Why should that mean it isn't real?

maybe its just oxidation and not necessarily "build up"

Back the tape up. I need it again!

Its mainly just on top, and near the holes on the bottom where the plant drains. Its little white clumps, and its exactly like the buildup on my spoons.
I don't think its too many chems... I'm using -
Fox Farm Trio Calmag Plus Snowstorm Ultra
Its not really a significant thing, just something I've noticed on one or two of them while I was watering. It seems like its leftover when the water evaporates. They're going on week 3 of flower now, so I'm going to give them a flush on Monday anyway.

im just guessing, but maybe the calmag
or the coir.
ive always worried about coir, then again im paranoid, and like to make my own anything if i can... but havent made my own coco coir. anyway, theres good info on coir and maybe you can find out where yours is coming from maybe even as specific as the farm, and know exactly what youre dealin with
they obviously have to do a major wash to remove all/most of the saline perhaps some that are more geared toward bulk farming dont pay as much attention to the saline content, as a smaller private farm

I use the General Hydroponics brand. And it didn't really start showing up until recently (aka, since they flipped to flower) so maybe it IS something combining with the calmag. I doubt its the coir itself since I used it for over 30 days and nothing happened until I switched to flower.
I looked it up and some people said it was a common thing - a lot of people mistake it for fungus, which I did originally too. I guess its nothing really to worry about.

I'm watching this thread. I started using coco about the same time as you, I haven't seen a reason to add a calmag product as of yet, and have no such build up.
If I remember right maryanna only uses it every other week. Maybe he/she will ring in with some helpful knowledge in the next few days.

I got through most of veg without using calmag. Now I use it every watering more or less (half strength during the "water" of my "feed/feed/water") and I have the healthiest plants I've had to date.
*knock on wood*
I got it as more of a better safe than sorry thing. I was right at the hydro store with a pocket full of money, and it was only $17 for a liter of it.
I only really noticed that buildup once or twice. It may have been on very hot days when things evaporated quicker than others. I'll keep an eye out and see if it does it again, and get pics.

its always nice to pick up those little additives, and whatnot
they make the grow if you ask me
adding a small amount of calmag, kelp, and myco(and maybe a couple other things) to EVERY watering. even flushes
