Currently i work construction, and own a small deck buisness myself. The pay is decent but its alot of work!! I know in a few years im not gonna wanna work construction for $17 a hr.... so im looking for a change, I decided to get my class one . It takes a few steps to get the licence, and the trainning will cost 2-4k. but once i got it im set !
There are sooo many transport jobs here. and they usually pay $20-30 a hour. If i want a deliver water to the oil rigs (rigs around here), i make $35 a hour starting. And i can make time and a half , if i want the extra hours...
Only problem is i blaze daily, and alot of "long haul" drivers get drug tested, so im leaning at local delivery's.
So im just gonna drive a gravel truck or concret truck locally. My friends work for a few of the local companys, and none of them drug test, and the work is very easy. they pay around $25 a hour to drive around town (while smoking one hooters).
This is not a career i wanna do my whole life, but its alot easier the construction, and the pay is 2x . Any with my class one I can drive pretty much anything. bus, truck, semi, etc.
Any other professional drivers out there? any pros and cons?
Pretty much all the truck drivers who come to my hotel smoke weed, except maybe the bosses
