The last topic was clusterfucked with too much bologna, I'd like a fresh new photography thread in this place
Post pictures you're the most proud of, and thoughts on them/how you took the picture.
On a foggy day, I went outside in my mom's garden and there were some wasps running around the flowers (I guess the humidity made the aromas more strong or something). I found one of the bees just sitting there, observing everything around the flower-- standing guard, I guess. I think I used F/4.5 aperture or shorter, there isn't much of a field of view. I wanted the focus to be on the face with the blurred background, it perfectly fit the mood for the day. A foggy day, a bunch of lost bees just trying to find their way to the next patch of pollen.

I took these all in the same day, it was a good day
Some of them I added some subtle filters too, I think it was the first time using them. Usually I just upload them as is.

Thanks! Right now I have just a Canon EOS Rebel T1i (I really want a 60D... one day. T1i is a good one for starters though)
This however I'd never trade in, my lens http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/194451-GREY/Canon_4657A006_100mm_f_2_8_USM_Macro.html
Right now bugs and finding plant elements composed nicely are my focus, but I can't wait for winter to do some snowflake shots.

Heh, well it will depend on what lens you have on it... otherwise to get close up, shoot in AV mode with F/8.0 to get optimal detail, generally. Always choose manual focus, and just play with where you want the sharpest spot to be, and the rest will gradually become softer.
But yeah, general rule of thumb for focusing close (on something that isn't moving) shoot in something like F/8.0 in AV mode (I think it's AV mode for Nikons at least...)
As well, shoot in lower ISOs for cleaner shots if you're in a mode that has control over it. On my camera it's automatic in everything but Manual.
Do you know off hand what lens/what kind of lens you have?

Ah okay... my cam came with something very similar. For closing on on a bud just do the settings I posted above and zoom in as close as you can. Never push the camera too close though-- you can always crop a sharper smaller photo out of it later, than having the whole image be blurry but bigger.
