 PH Soil Test Kit

Hi everyone,
Today I went to bunnings warehouse to buy a PH test kit.
In their gardening section, I found a PH SOIL TEST KIT, which was the only PH testing kit in the gardening section.
It is for testing the PH of soil samples. I am just wondering, is it possible to test the PH of water samples also? I would assume it is, but I just wanted to make sure I can use this product to test the PH of my water before i water the plants.
There are 2 bottles in the package.
1x PH dye indicator
1x Barium sulphate
It has no instructions on how to use the kit to test liquids, im assuming it would be exactly the same?!?
