Medicinal Marijuana & Medical Insurance

I live in the state of california and i have medical insurance, i was looking forward to getting my card soon but do i have to tell my doctor or medical insurance that i want to do so or can i just go get evaluated and tell them i don't have insurance? what would happen if i told them i did? very confused here!!

Insurance doesnt cover it. You have to see a doctor to get your card. Most docs are against pot. You have to see one that specifically works with pot patients and pay cash. After that its best not to mention it to your regular doc or anyone except the person that asks to see your card or paper work. No insurance covers pot visits its all cash.

i know the insurance won't cover it but will i lose the insurance if they find out i have my card or do you know if the insurance would care or not?

California does not require you to have a government issued Department of Health medical card. They only require a written recommendation from a licensed physician, that you will then present to dispensaries for access to the marijuana, or to authorities in the event you are facing legal trouble for your possession or marijuana. Therefore, there really isn't any way for your insurance to find out whether you have a card or not, since it's just an informal written recommendation that is not held in any public database.
