Harvesting only part of a plant?

Howdy there everyone, hate to say it but I'm a newbie to the cultivation of this wonderful plant, but I've loved horticulture for many years. Anyways, I seem to have run into a bit of trouble with my lovely lady [ figured I'd start off easy]. The problem is, my cola seems to have developed muuuuch faster than the lateral branches and I'm wondering if I can cut off her top off with killing the entire plant. Is this possible, and will my other branches develop better if so? Any advice at all would be great, much obliged!

Also, if any one could "sugar flushing" to me it'd be great. Not even really sure it exists ha, but I had a friend tell me it will get rid of the build up in my soil and give the buds a sweeter taste and smell?

Come on now people, I know I'm new but I need help. Has no one really ever had this problem? I forgot to add she's an outdoorsy kind of girl, and I need to know before it gets too cold I'm stuck with a shnazz ton of underdeveloped nugs

I just say let them grow. You definately do not want an underdeveloped cola and you have a good chance of the smaller buds growing into the main one. Next time try 'topping' your plant before it flowers. It'll help spread out growth.
Idk anything about sugar flushing though. It seems like it would just be a nutrient schedule that used sugar rich nutrients to flush the plant during the last month or so of growth. That's pretty common and does have a profound effect on the bud, but can cause it too smoke weird IMO.

Thank you much man, I just don't want my cola going to shizz because it starts raining quite a bit this time of year where I'm at and I feel like mould would grow on buds quite fast. But very much appreciated sir.
