Meh, it's carbon based, but to call it a diamond planet is a bit of a stretch, I don't see the point in science editorializing their discoveries, the fact that we can even detect things in space is exciting enough for me.

I bet if human are ever able to reach it, they will do ALL they can, including wars, to try to mine this planet ...

If humans are ever able to become advanced enough to get there, they will probably already have the technology to mass produce high quality diamonds.

Might be true, might not, one thing is for sure, countries will probably fight for the "ownership" of parts of this planet, or of the entire planet. That, I am pretty sure of it, all you have to do is to look at history for proofs.

Technological advancement is a catalyst for social advancement and visa versa. Man may be far from perfect still, but is much further ahead today than ever in both of these areas. I am confident that if Man can make it to that level of technological advancement that society will bear little resemblance than that of today, especially in the area of war. Can you image the people in the medieval ages with nuclear weapons?

If we could reach a plant that is 5 times the size of ours made of nothing but diamonds, wouldn't that make diamonds kinda worthless? The reason they are expensive is because they are rare. Won't really be rare anymore, unless they regulate the supply of diamonds to keep the prices high. But I really think it would make diamonds worthless. Other than using them for cutting and shit, like diamond tips.

Of course, the supply would increase massively but the demand would remain the same.

Of course if 1) We don't have diamonds worth mining on earth, and 2) The price of diamonds is high enough to justify the expense of mining and transportation through interstellar space.
It possible that if we have exhausted all worthy deposits on earth, the mining of this planet would increase the price of diamonds.

By the time its practical to fly there and mine it AND bring it back, I have to assume we would have interstellar space down to an affordable science, no?
Maybe out of diamonds here on earth though, yes.

I'd assume that by the time we were able to fly there and mine, the cost would still be prohibitive. Production happens over time, assuming it would take more than that of a human life to finish such a project. There would be a period of time where we would be able to do it, but have no incentive to take such an investment. So yeah, I can agree with your statement on that basis.

The economics of something so theoretical are extremely difficult to speculate on.
