MONSTROUS buds

Hey guys, I found this image on the internet today and thought it seemed quite suspicious looking. I assumed it's completely fake because I've never come across buds even half this size. However, where it was posted people are saying that it's legitimate. What say you?

Looks like they just cut off part of a really dense plant and trimmed off the bigger leaves. Dunno.
EDIT: Tycho reference in your subtitle thing?

You're correct about the Tycho reference. Either those are some massive nugs, or somebody has some pretty good photoshop skills.

I could believe it. I got a nug over an ounce just from a single plant under CFL's. With the right strain and some TLC it's possible.

Nah, I never did and maybe I should have cause they needed to be watered twice a day.
It was just a experiment I did. I wanted to prove that as long as the plants got what they needed nutrient and water wise that you could get them to any size in any container........I was wrong but it was a fun experiment.

Those are real buds, looks like AK47 Autoflowers. Not many red hairs but 2ounce buds are not unusual with the autoflower strain. Most growers are switching over to nothing but Autoflowers.

I don't know what growers you're referring to but I don't think this is at all accurate. Growing exclusively autoflower would be a pain in the ass, you would need to grow from seeds every grow.
Most true autoflowers will yield 1ounce a plant give or take a few grams in like what 70+ days?

You can't kept clones of autoflowers since they flower automatically and can't be kept in veg for any period of time.

He's talking about his super grower friend who keeps mothers of autoflowers and flowers clones. This grower keeps the mothers in veg using a super secret method they won't share because then everyone would be growing inferior autoflower weed.

If it can be kept in veg it's not a autoflower.
If a plant that is a autoflower is from clone then it must be a joke it's gonna be so small. I truly do not believe this. I'm not saying your a lier by any means but your grower friend is. The plants would have to be cloned while in flowering since most autoflowers start flowering almost immediately. I've been under the lights since 1985 and have been growing longer then most the people on this site have been alive.
Some of my work
I also have pics put up earlier in this thread.
In order for a plant to be a autoflower it has to be a smoking strain crossed with a non-thc producing strain called a ruderallis. Most the clubs here in Cali want nothing to do with auto-flower buds.
Quote:
in small pots of dirt, elevated, on the periphery of your lighted area they take forever to finish.
This also isn't true. Genetics controls the finishing of the plant in most cases what you will get in this case is small airy buds that would be better off using in hash making.
I don't care what your fried says unless they have produced some kind of spray that stops hormones from forming the statement isn't true. Like I said I'm not calling you a lair but I am calling your grower friend one.
These plants are not autos but they look a little like it. I forced flowering as soon as the clones were rooted and ready to plant. Your friend may be doing something like this.
or this You'll notice these are all in dixie cups filled with lava rock in a flood and drain setup.
Quote:
There is no such thing as an inferior hydro grown plant, in my opinion anyway.
This is also a false statement. Hydro has nothing to do with potency the only difference between hydro and soil is pretty much that hydro plants grow faster. Potency is in the genetics.
I currently grow, produce feminized seeds, and clones exclusively for clubs here in Cali. There are also others in this thread who have a great deal of growing experience so you can understand why we are a bit skeptical when we hear about somebody doing something nobody else on earth can do.
One last time I want to make this clear. I am in no way calling you a liar but I am calling your grower friend one.

Its an old term, like so many linguistics that are seldom if ever used. Just another senior citizen, from the good old days, speaking a different language and thought pattern than the much younger maryjane militants here. Dont worry guys, it will be packaged and sold at your local conveniance store soon enough. The government will take total control of the pot industry eventually. The makers of camel ciggarettes is anticipated to be the first commercial source of legal pot. You can "trust" it will be legal and marketed in the same way tobacco is.

Furrowed Brow, would you mind sending me a PM with the breeders name and strain? I'm looking for strains with a single terminal cola to compliment my small wardrobe I am trying to use.

There's numerous strains (er cultivars) that just love to grow a single cola some will even grow like a Christmas tree which is even better since you're not going to run into over crowding issues as much.
Many cultivars will grow a single cola if you don't veg them long enough for them to form many branches. You can also trim the lower branches before flowering which is called "lollipopping" this essentially makes cultivars that wouldn't grow a single cola or would normally branch out grow more uniform and skinnier which is the goal when growing for maximum yield in a small closet.
Selection is also a big factor as some some offspring may have variations in height, girth, bud size, growth speed, growth profile (branching vs single cola or christmas tree like vs not), etc. You're always going to have a uniform crop if you grow from clones, you can from seed / multiple cultivars but it's going to be a lot more difficult and even still less uniform.
Do some research in growing a Sea of Green / Monocrop. It's the highest yielding method and it's the most time and electricity efficient. However it's also the most dangerous if you live in a place where plant counts make your grow more illegal as the key to growing a effective Sea of Green is using 20-36 (sometimes more!) plants in a 3x3-4x4' area. This is also a headache to water especially if you're in a closet where you only have access to a portion of one side (the door) so hydroponics would be your best friend. Hydroponics isn't necessarily complicated, expensive, or time consuming in case you're already intimidated. You can put together a drip system for next to nothing perhaps nothing if you have some things laying around.
Recommendations? I've found several high yielding low branching including:
Chimera's GFxBB Perhaps the best I've grown for this purpose when considering the frequency a SoG candidate pops up. Very fruity, relatively potent, commonly grows a single cola, few side branches which can easily be trimmed if necessary. Grows to be a ~2ft 20ish gram plant when flowered at 8-10" in my experience.
Chimera's Mental Floss This one may not be suitable for your closet as it gets a bit taller some phenotypes take 77-80 days to finish whereas the GFxBB finishes commonly in ~63days. Mental Floss yields potentially more than virtually anything else I've grown, it's very potent, and tastes amazing. It would be more of a challenge to flower out a pack or two of these in a closet but once you find your mother I think it would be worth while.
Mr.Nice's SuperSilverHaze In my experience it's challenging enough to get the majority of these plants to finish at 4-5 ft so growing in a closet would definitely be a challenge, however there are 8-9 week phenotypes that grow a single cola and yield like a mad man. Flowering from seed in a closet probably isn't an option with this one.
Mr.Nice's Critical Mass - This is one of the more common cash cropping varieties in Canada. It's fast, chunky, and even when grown in a greenhouse can basically grow a single cola(definitely depending on selection! http://mrnice.nl/dhtml/strains.php?id=17 ) Is there any plant that can beat this one in the yield department? It's fast as hell and huge. There's also very skunky and berry phenotypes so the smoke can be appealing to most.
Serious Seeds Chronic - Personally I'm not a fan however this is probably the most famous cash cropper because it yields A LOT and grows a single fat sticky cola. I've come across it before and there's certainly better smoke out there but it's nothing to laugh at either.
Note: Both the Chronic and Critical Mass can have serious mold problems since the cola's grow so dense. I can't speak for Chronic personally but Critical Mass outdoors on a humid summer = not harvesting anything that you could smoke.
