Drying your buds too quickly with a desiccant or heat will make your buds brittle and crumbly. The way to do it is to let them dry slowly and evenly. If your house is too humid a desiccant won't have negative effect unless of course you're making the area the bud is drying too dry.

The way you should do it is hang the buds up on a clothes line or hangers on the stems until the stems will snap when bent. Then they go into paper bags for a couple days. Then they go into jars with you giving them some air for two weeks by opening the jars and rolling the buds around gently so that they get a chance to dry out evenly. After the two week period they're good to stay in the jars until smoked.

What is the RH in the area where the buds are drying?
