 My 1st Plant!! [Basil]

Hi I'm known as DourSiezel over at the shroomery. This is my first post in here.

After recieving a few basil seeds from a kind member of the shroomery
I head to a hydroponic/organics store and the guy there was all like "Hey! You there!!" I looked at him "Yea, You!" And I told him how I needed soil, didn't know what i should get.. yada yada..
He threw me 2 bags of soil to try out free (One was labeled SuperHydro, the other was labeled UltraCoir). Being overly excited I rushed home to the first pot i could find (About 7" Diameter) and I lightly moisten the soil as I poured and mixed it into the pot.
Being a newby googling through success stories on basil I figured why the hell not and I really ment to just use half of what you gave me (a seed here, a seed there type of usuage)and the whole bag kinda just spludged into every where in the pot. I did a very very very light sprinkle of soil of the top (less than an 8th of an inch) and covered it with Saran Wrap to keep in the little moisture it needs for germination.
This really wasn't the exact way I wanted to do it, but because of limited research, time, and budget, it did me no justice.
However I will still give it every little tender care and lovin I have in me!
The soil that I used was the "SuperHydro". I don't know much about this soil but i could make out a very light amount of coir and the usual amount of perlite you'd find in a store bought.
I'll keep an eye on it for a week or two, fingers crossed!

The passed week has been hell in the Northern East of US. Temps here in Metro-Detroits reached in the 100's.
Being this hot, I thought it would be a good idea to try to retain moisture in the pot and make sure it didn't dry out, I put seran wrap over the top.
I talk to the local Organic Supply store guy and he's tellin me that they plastic wrap could have infact magnified the sunlight directed into the pot making it a lot more hotter than it was outside.
It's been 6 days and no signs of sprouts. I did however hear that these were some late sprouters. I'm going to leave em in there for another 2 weeks and see what happens.
What do you growers think? Fried my seeds or no?
