My wife and I decided to start keeping a journal of our first grow room. We have our room setup now. The setup is as follows:
Room - 13' x 12' w/ small separate area within the room dedicated to our clones/mother room
System - 4' x 8' Ebb And Flow table w/ 100 gallon reservoir containing 3 water pumps: 2 EcoFlow 264gph units & 1 Sunleaves 396gph used for circulating the water when in reservoir
Lighting - 2 600 watt Digital Greenhouse dimmable ballasts (50/75/100%) powering 2 600 watt MH bulbs (HPS bulbs for flowering) housed in MaxWing reflector hoods
Ventilation - NuTone Heater/Fan/Light bathroom combination unit model 665RP connected to a 20"x6" Phat filter rated at 350 CFM above table with 2 oscillating fans at opposite corners of the grow room.
Nutrients - Botanicare TriFlex system (Base, Grow, Bloom) Botanicare Liquid Karma Hygrozyme H202
Strains - Afghooey, Burmese Kush, Purple Kush, & Super Silver Haze
These photos were taken 8 days ago the plants were roughly 2 1/2 weeks old at the time.
Super Silver Haze
Afghooey

Burmese Kush
July 10, 2011 This marks the end of the 3rd week that our girls have been with us, and they're growing faster than I thought they would for sure!
OK, so forgive us both for not starting out our journal until now, but we finally just transplanted our ladies into their new 3 gallon pots for the remainder of the grow. Only 5 25 lb bags of hydroton to fill them up (Thank all that is holy that stuff is reusable.)
Funny quote from the transplant session : "I think I figured out why the Burmese Kush was growing so slow, babe"
"Why?"
"They were just further down in the pot than all of the others!"
Super Silver Haze
Purple Kush
Afphoogey
Burmese
So thanks to that little tidbit I believe we will be ready to initiate the flowering sequence. Good thing too, because that Super Silver Haze grows VERY quickly. Thankfully we definitely have room to go up a little bit.
Transplanting went along just fine, until I decided to flush out the bag of hydroton and it fell over spilling about a good 5 gallon bucketful of it all over the driveway. Rookie maneuver lol
My favorite part of the transplant was being able to peek in at the roots' progress. The roots are looking fantastic! Thick, white, meaty tendrils of power! Looks like a little hygrozyme and h202 do the trick indeed. Was worried that we might catch a little root rot, but not the case for sure. Whew!
Anyways, tune in next time and we should have some nice pictures of all the girls as they transition into flowering mode.

Thanks Pernicious, it took a long time to get our room set up all nice and comfortable...Yeah, that Super Silver Haze grows faster than any plant I've ever seen before! Our most vigorous one is already past 21" tall. However, she went ahead and topped all of the Silvers to keep the canopy at a somewhat sane range for now. Will post some pics tomorrow.
Should be a good update. We are throwing them into flower tomorrow. Let the games begin!

Yeah I know, I thought that when I took the picture too! My wife put all of the plants together by type kind of so you have all 10 SSH's in the one row, then the 3 Afghooey together, then the 3 Burmese, and the 14 Purple Kush is all over the front side.
LOL Yeah it's looking like a problem that I'm going to enjoy having!

OK everyone. We got the reservoir, water pumps, hoses, and the table all cleaned up and switched over to start flowering mode up! Took out the MH's and screwed in those beautifully orange HPS bulbs to begin the 12/12 schedule. If you're wondering, the lights are on 8AM-8PM PST.
Fresh nutrients as follows: Botanicare Triflex Base - 1000 ml Botanicare Triflex Grow - 1000 ml Botanicare Triflex Bloom - 1000 ml Botanicare Liquid Karma - 1000 ml Hygrozyme - 1000 ml (see a pattern here?) H202 - 300 ml
Fresh 100 gallons of H20 coming in at 7.13 before nutes and 5.9 after, so I felt good about not having to pH Down the reservoir! Tested the water at just a hair over 100 ppm before nutes and ended up at 1965 ppm afterwards. Let's get those ladies all fat and happy now!
07/14/2011 Day 1 of Flowering Temperature : AM-64F PM-74F Humidity : AM-70%, PM-61% Water Temp : 69F-72F pH : AM-6.2 PM-6.3 ppm : 1960
Looks good this morning, they were a little droopy after the res change and the cleaning, but they perked right back up this morning. Checked on em later in the day, and that bulb sure took a while to get to 100% but damn if it ain't full capacity now! Looks awesome. Good night ladies!
07/15/2011 Day 2 of Flowering Temperature : AM-65F PM-78F Humidity : AM-71%, PM-65% Water Temp : 69.3F pH : AM-6.1 PM-6.2 ppm : 1990
Looking good this morning. The topped Silvers look like they're healing quickly. It seems as though the temperatures while they have been steady, picked up 3 degrees. Nothing major just a little warmer than usual. We have had rain the past 4 days so I expected the increase in humidity. The Purple Kush has really taken a shine to the change. They're really bushing out now. The Silvers and the Afghooey look as impressive as ever. The Burmese are also looking as though they enjoy being a little higher in the pot as well. All in all, the plants are coming right along. Here's some pics!
See you next time! We appreciate the feedback guys. Keep growing!

Here we are 8 days into flowering all of the plants are looking great (and wow do they grow fast) but the Silvers are giving us some trouble... Any thoughts on why the leaves are drooping down like this?

Hey everyone just updated with some fresh pics of our ladies. We ended up moving everything around again, and went back to having all of the Silvers under one light instead of the perimeter where they were looking a little depressed. Hopefully this will remedy that situation.
We will be changing out the reservoir again on 07/27, and we'll be switching over to our full bloom nutrient solution. We have it currently on the aggressive transition solution as described on the back of the Botanicare Triflex container. Magash noticed that we might have been feeding them too much Phosphorus, so hopefully taking the Grow nutes away will equalize the Silvers, and get them back in a happier mood again.
Hopefully you all enjoy the pics above! Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks all! Keep growing!

How are those SSH doing now? if you still want my two cents i think they arent liking all the water they are getting with your flood table, they seemed to have been falling way behind compared to the others in your previous pics.
anyway all the other ladies are looking nice man.

They're doing better, however, they are an enigma. We've tried moving them around and switching the schedules on them with the water, but they are having a rough time. I don't know if we're going to want to grow them again until we're more experienced. I would definitely say that they are tough plants, so they're good in that way. However, they have given us the most trouble of the bunch. I still think that they'll produce OK, just not as good as the other strains.
I don't think it's the flood table that is the problem. I think that we didn't anticipate that they would grow so large and we are basically running out of space. Next time we'll just need more space vertically. My wife does NOT want to grow it again.
Thanks for checking out the journal Pernicious. The experience of other growers is what we were hoping for when we started this thing...Keep growing!

yeah no doubt. SSH is known as being a very difficult plant to cultivate anyway. most hazes are good for giving you alot of headaches (at least in my experience). commercially the effort is never worth it but for top shelf head stash i always found them well worth all their troubles.
and i dont think its the flood table so much as the schedule. they look like they are over watered to me personally.
either way im stoked to see how this one turns out, keep us posted man!

Right on! Yeah, the watering schedule as it stands now is 4x a day for 15 minutes. What would you recommend as far as watering schedule? I've read a thousand different ways to water it, so I'm a little lost as far as finding the correct technique?! Would love to be able to finally nail it down and remedy that situation. Any feedback is appreciated and welcome. Thanks all.

the schedule sounds fine, and obviously all your other plants are loving it. you dont want to fuck with all the other plants for the sake of just a few.
have you tried adding H202 (hydrogen peroxide) to your reservoir?
plus in your latest pics the SSH seem to be doing a lot better anyway. i think they just may adjust on their own.
just my piece of advice, if you do decide to use the h202 dont add more then a few drops per liter to start it doesnt seem like much but it makes a huge impact on the oxygen levels in your water.
keep us posted!
