bob marley saved my life * 2
    #571147 - 07/10/11 06:56 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

ive been posting here a while and im admittedly a bit faded, so i feel comfortable telling you guys a little story that is kinda personal.

back in the day when i was an angsty suicidal teenager, i really had things take a turn for the worst. life was looking real grim and i had a lot of shit going on that id rather not get into.

i was homeless for a while at this point in time, but i somehow always had alcohol despite the fact that i was so young. i had smoked on and off for a few years but hadnt really considered myself a stoner just yet.

i was extemely drunk and had had enough. it was the first time in my life i was really going to give up. i was finishing up my bottle even though i was vomitting already kinda hoping it would kill me.

i was outside the back door of our old bowling alley. all the windows were open and the grass was really tall. i was leaning up against the wall and decided when i finished the 4 or 5 swallows left in the bottle i was 100% going to off myself by just diving into the lake and taking a deep inhale.

just as i was finishing, the radio started up in the bowling alley. i heard a familiar voice come out of the speakers...mr. robert marley. i saved my last few drinks because i liked the song and wanted to wait it out. im so glad i did.

"every little thing, is gonna be alright".

the song spoke to me right then and there. i was so uplifted by the song that i started to cry and smashed the shit out of that bottle. he really did make me feel like everything was going to be alright.

i dont remember what happened for the rest of the night, but i woke up the next afternoon in my mothers lawn and managed to make up with her for the time being. i finally felt ok and started to get my shit back together.

ill never forget just how special that moment in time was to me or how i felt when i heard the song. in times of crisis or sadness, i still find myself suddenly singing that tune without even really thinking about it. i have all of bob marleys studio albums but they often get pushed aside. i rarely ever hear that song, but when i do it just makes me feel good man.

haha thanks for reading. i just wanted to share how special that was for me. i just heard it come on the radio again and it made me feel nostalgic man so i posted.

:] <3

Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

Feeling pretty down lately, life has been getting pretty hard again. But stories like this kind of brighten up my day, bob marley has made a positive impact on me also.

Thanks for sharing your story.
Personally, the experiences I have had in my life have been so redundantly clear in pointing out that the universe or whatever you want to call it always gives you exactly what you need to grow and progress. One such experience I had was during a time I was very fucked up physically and I thought I was never going to be able to walk again. I was on a long car ride going in for surgery, totally terrified, negative, feeling this was just another nail in the coffin like the other ones I had were, out of nowhere a song popped in my head and I started whistling it. I was having my surgery the next day and we were staying overnight in a hotel, well the exact moment as I wheel into the lobby the song comes on the stereo system they had, the odds of that being so impossibly slim I just knew someone or something was watching over me and everything was going to be alright, and it ended up being so.

Since I went to Stephen Marley's show, life has been great, happy times, no stress, no troubles, thats just the way I really want to live!

I don't know why, but im sure good vibrations are all around me, it was such an incredible show!

Pour un instant, j'ai respiré très fort
Ça m'a permis de visiter mon corps
Des inconnus vivent en roi chez moi
Moi qui avait accepté leurs lois
J'ai perdu mon temps à gagner du temps
J'ai besoin de me trouver une histoire à me conter
Pour instant j'ai oublié mon nom
Harmonium - Pour un instant
