Wow that atheist guy is a total moron ...Why keep trying to put fences between people's beliefs when you can have them live happily together?

I get so worked up about this stuff. I dont want to be all "athiests are stupid for believing in nothing" but its people like that that push me damn near close. Im done with this thread also, cause I really dont want to get banned over trolling MB. And im not demonstrating being a open minded person either, so for that, I apologize MB.

I used to think religion was a great evil, but that argument is really just another distraction to keep us divided. I still don't find most of it entirely logical, but I can understand people have different desires out of life than I.

Why would science be "the truth"? Because scientists say so Why would a religion (ex: any monotheist religion, but here it will be with Catholicism, doesn't necessarily works with animism) be "the truth"? Because Vatican say so...
It is not because you were educated with science that it is necessarily the truth, I prefer to say it is an explanation, among so many others which are all coherent in themselves, I do believe it is a religion, because people these days venerate scientists like priests & "The Science" like a god.
Fucking retarded.

Throughout history science has proven itself to be completely wrong, the one thing that sets it aside from religions is the fact science can change its "truths", eventually, to meet reality.
Science can't answer all questions yet, nor do I think it will ever be able to, but at least their approach is more logical than religious institutions.
Fucking NOT retarded.

I'll just put this out there
An atheist cannot tell a theist their beliefs are wrong, and vice versa.
I cannot drink from your cup, and you cannot drink from mine
Science and the occult are the same thing
Remember that scientists constantly have to revise their ideas, and before they do so, they are "wrong"
Believing in anything 100% is pure stupidity
Edit- the smartest man is the one who knows he knows nothing
I like where you were going with that, but the underlined part bugs me. I don't think people who say they believe in science say that scientifically "proven" facts (That phrase bugs the fuck out of me as well because one of the most primary tenets of science is that NOTHING can be proven) are the hard fast truth. I think what they're saying is they believe in the idea that you can take outside inputs, experiences and observations and use them to reformat your understanding of your surroundings. Whereas most religions are founded on a steadfast set of laws that are unbendable and permanent regardless of new information, science is malleable and constantly striving for improvement.
At least that's how I interpret statements like that

Look at how far science has come. The sun used to revolve around us. Now its the opposite. What else is the opposite now?

going back even further, the entire universe used to revolve around us as well. Even further, the Natives used to think the night sky was a painted bowl turned upside down over the ground at night.
People are funny.

I find Native American religion to be amazing. It was so organic and thankful. Especially kokopelli, he carried songs on his back that brought rain and harvest, and fertility to women. Thats a big range of abilities lol.

Thanks homie. I've spent basically my entire life being scientific, and more importantly philosophizing about the need for science.

both fields have proven to have their unique qualities. even some of the eastern religions have parallels with modern science like quantum theory or other branches of physics. cant say much about western though, for i lack understanding.
this thread turned onto a dead end street.

Same here bro. My whole family has always tried pushing their Christian ways on me but I refuse to accept something that I cannot and will not believe. It's cool to know I'm not the only one that feels strongly about science.

Ahh but I don't use my appreciation for the scientific method as a way to discredit religious people. I believe there's a time and a place for both, as long as they're used properly.
