The army ruins peoples minds

Man, I've known this one kid for the better part of 10 years. He never really hung out too much, but enough to be someone that I chilled with on occasion. He was always quiet...I suspected a closet homosexual, because he had a lot of issues (which I'm fine with btw). I knew he was probably suicidal sometimes, but he never really spoke much on it.
Well, he went into the military recently and was on leave. He showed up in my town and just kinda invited himself over. Everyone was drinking for the 4th, so nobody thought anything of letting him drink too.
5 drinks later, he is standing up SCREAMING "I JUMP OUT OF PLANES FOR MONEY. I GET PAID TO KILL PEOPLE. FUCK YOU I NEED PUSSY". Ok. It was funny for about 5 minutes. Me and my friends are really chill, and we don't need that. We told him to chill, and he did for the most part.
We were walking about a half mile to our chill spot to watch the fireworks, and he is in the street asking people if they like John Wayne. We get to the spot, and hes throwing huge logs around and doing pushups still screaming about America.
It was pretty lame, but we thought he would sober up
So, we get going to another friends house for the after party, and when we get there the shit really hits the fucking fan. He starts screaming about how he doesn't care if his dad doesn't approve of him, and that he wants to die every day of his life. Then he had this crazy 1000 yard stare, and just started drooling and screaming as loud as he could.
We gave him .5mg of Xanax because nobody could take his shit at this point. He was trying to fuck my friends kid sister (he didn't stand a chance btw ) and kept getting right in her face. I threw the fucker on the couch and he finally passed out.
They drew cocks all over him and drove him back to my house where his van was parked. They loaded him in his van and left him there.
He was gone when I woke up.
But this really calm kid turned from an OK person with issues to someone I never ever want to see again in my life. I've seriously seen people have milder bad trips on powerful psychedelics than this kids drunken rage.
I know its pics or it didn't happen, but I don't have any of the passed out kid. I do have one of my bro standing on the bar singing hootie and the blowfish though. Someones got a video of the kid getting tea bagged

I really really wanted to, but what the hell would I have done with his drunk ass? I couldn't really let him leave...he was under age drinking and if he drove off I'da been pretty fucked because there were police checks everywhere.
But yeah dude, worst party experience ever. Also a really great party, we kinda just drank around his passed the fuck out ass
As you can see from the picture.

The guy singing hootie and the blowfish or my army buddy?
Kidding.
But in all seriousness, he used to be extremely humble about everything. He also used to be the first person I know that really hated America. And now this.

I hate to say it, but nothing in this story sounds unfamiliar
I have a guy I've been best friends with since first grade who went on three tours of duty overseas. He went from being incredibly nice and generous and soft spoken to loud, obnoxious, violent and aggressively sexual with women who want nothing to do with him.
Quote:
"I JUMP OUT OF PLANES FOR MONEY. I GET PAID TO KILL PEOPLE. FUCK YOU I NEED PUSSY"
THat line is the most fucked up, I swear I think I've heard that almost word for word probably 100 times. WTF are they doing in the army where that's the mentality that people come out with?

but you shouldn't be proud of that fact. They should be proud of defending freedoms, and remorseful of the extreme force necessary to do so. And the pussy thing is what I'm most confused about. Everyone in the army (That I've met) went from a relaxed respectful gentlemen to an aggressive, misogynistic poonhound.

They are fighting their repressed homosexuality. The military is a circle jerk where no one gets off, so they have to rape women and then get it covered up by their superior officers.

my god. i just literally got sick reading this thread.
i was figuring it was just because he is a weak person. now that i know its a common thing...ugh. man thats just horribly sad.
i have another friend who joined up too. when i think about it, it kinda fucked him up too. he was always confident so it didnt change him in that sense. but he is extremely loud and annoying. i cant remember him being like that before.

Man, I didn't think this shit was so common, I'm shocked. This happened to one of my father's friends, they both served in the army, but my father went to Siberia, and he went to Afghanistan. They met up when they were being sent home, and a group of them went out for drinks, my father's friend was showing the same behavior people here have been talking about, yelling, starting shit with everyone in sight, being arrogant, rude, misogynistic, and my dad dragged him outside to beat his ass. When they were outside, his friend told him that he could beat him to death for all he cares, because he has no will to live, because he can't forget the faces of the men and women he killed, and was glorified for.
It makes me sick to see these recruiters at High Schools, talking about these supposedly awesome school deals, like there's actually a great chance they'll be able to make it through the army alive or sane enough to use the scholarship they offer them. Most people could give a fuck less about Harvard when they have blood on their hands.

I've heard stories like this so much, but I've never experienced it in person until last night.
I wonder what the fuck they are doing. I wish someone who couldn't be broken easily would go in and do some under-cover type investigation on their practices. They're obviously doing something wrong.

Yeah I know people in the ADF who ended up like that. But from their experiences I'm sure this is a minor side effect, I've read somewhere that there's something like 16 suicides a day for US Army Vets.

Being an army brat and growing up around a lot of military folk in my life. I always see the same mentality in the young dudes that go in. What's even worst then all that is how the veterans are treated when they come back by our government.
I'm kinda surprised at the responses on here about this. That's what the military does they break you down mentally and physically. They completely tear you down. Whoever you were before you signed that contract is completely gone after. You're never gonna be the same again. And if by some slim chance you manage to keep your mental state intact. I can bet you that at least physically you're going to have some serious damage done to yourself by the you're out that your not ever gonna be able to fully recover from.
I was originally going to join the marines at 18 but after I realized how many freedoms were going to be taken away I said fuck that! Shit aint worth it no matter how much they pay me.

Dragon.. I know a guy named dragon. He was a sniper and they kicked him out of the military for using LSD. He was well on his way to being paid for the rest of his life and now he just shifts around from place to place... It is kinda sad how they treat our soldiers, yet still I cannot touch this subject because it has too many philosophical implications.

The only medal i ever recieved was the Vietnam era medal and i think i am ok. The bad thing is the military makes you think that you are so much better than any civilian.
It took me awhile to get that kind of thinking out of my mind when i first got back to the mainland, It seriously can fuck you up if you are a weak minded person.
Maybe its worse for the ones over in Iraq or Afganistan but i doubt it is any worse than WW2 Korea or Vietnam was.

My Uncle Gene who is Toms real father "Yes cranky Tom was a real person and my cousin RIP"
Anyway my Uncle Gene was a marine in the worst battle in the Pacific theatre, he is ok to this day and i still see him on a regular basis.
90% of his platoon was killed in the battle of Pelelui He told me he went crazy and was jerking japs out of the caves and killing them them with his military issue .45 calibre handgun. He thought it was just a matter of time until he was shot dead but he survived He is a highly decorated marine and deservingly so.
The cool thing about him is he has faced all this tragedy and lived a fully good life. Im not going to say he was always ok but he was smart enough to not let that kind of horrible past turn him into a fucking asshole.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Peleliu
