Fewer plants larger yield

hello growery long time stalker here. never undergone a grow with a mj plant but plan to soon and i have some questions.
i am interested in the prospect of having few plants with very high yields (at least 1 lb. dry per plant) vs having more than a few with 'typical' yields.
so how could one construct this type of grow? would extending time in veg. cycle be required? would that in turn require a longer flowering period? what methods of care could i use to influence high yields for one plant?
please feel welcome to freely discuss anything about this

I'd recommend a Scrog type grow. Extended veg is needed with some genetics and flowering time is all genetics as well.
Research Scrog.

growing indoors or out? 1 lb per plant may be a bit unrealistic. From what I've seen it's quite a rarity to accomplish such incredible yields per plant indoors. You've really gotta have your shit dialed in hard to get close to those results. Definitely research scrog and hydro in detail.
Do a log man! also check out attitude and seedboutique to get yourself some good genetics.
Welcome to the growery!

hey thanks man. ive been thinking and after some research i think ill be doing it this way: indoors, 600 w hps. 3-5 weeks veg.
since its my first grow i think i should keep it somewhat simple.
of coarse, this project is something i'll do in the soon future, gotta move out of the parent's house first :P
btw, thanks for those links.. exactly what i was looking for.. a pick and mix option.

3-5 week veg, 600 watts, and your first grow... A pound per plant is highly unlikely imo.

You will have better results your first time just having 1-2 plants and learning through your first grow...Also SOG Sea of Green is a lot of plants and keeping them small, it works well too.

exactly my plan. from growlogs ive read, one lb is very optimistic at least.
