as per subject.
if a plant less than a foot tall and yet to show preflowers is burned by excess nitrogen and also shows blackening on some leaves borders, will it end up being male due to stress?

If the plant has a predisposition to hermie or whatever then it may bring that to the surface, any stress to a plant will affect the outcome. I would only worry if its a bagseed grow because you just never know usually if I have any problems with bagseed I toss them a lot of them just don't seem to tolerate what we do indoors to them.
But yea I agree with helmet.

this.
figure it this way. even if they do go hermie, you just got yourself some more female seeds with hermie tendencies to work with. just make sure to keep them away from your females. or, you can pollinate one or more of the buds on some of the females (just make sure to note which buds they are. you can do this by marking it with a twist tie) by swabbing the male pollen and placing it on one or more of the female buds. this will produce, for the most part, all feminized seeds. hope that helps out a bit.
