Start with woven polyester monofilament mesh like I do in this thread:

You can secure the squares of polyester mesh in a colander or the mouth of a jar like I did, or, for larger runs, secure the mesh inbetween buckets like is shown in the following thread:

The prices for the monofilament mesh on amazon change weekly-- I checked prices often and only payed $1.50-$3.00 per piece of mesh; I own about six different sizes as well as actual bags.
