Cooled hood for exhaust

I'm sure some unhelpful jackass is just going to tell me this belongs in a forum that doesn't exist so let me go ahead and say that lighting questions go just as well under the soil category as they do under the hydroponics or greenhouse setup. Now the question
This is the light I have decided on. http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-Digital-Greenhouse-Ultimate-600-watt-HPS-&-MH-Grow-Light.asp
Ill be using a tent that about 3.5x 3.5 My question is, if i have a fan with triple CFM rating than the cubed footage of the room, will it be vented adequately just hooked up to that light?
Im just thinking it might restrict the air flow too much if there is a glass pane in front of the lamp, that would only leave the hole for the bulb to draw air in through, which is pretty small, definetly wouldnt provide the same ventilation as an open 6' vent.
I just wanted to shell out the xtra cash for air cool with tho hopes i can keep my HID close to my plants especially since it gets really hot where i am.

Well, this should be in the "Grow Room Design" forgum, but its all good. I'm sure a mod can move it.
As for your post, that's a nice ass hood, man! I have one almost exactly the same, only its a 1k watt light and I have a magnetic ballast.
What exactly is the fan you're looking at? I have a 425cfm inline fan, a 16" oscillating fan inside, and two window fans that push fresh air in and pull the hot air out. And with those 4 fans, we are just barely able to keep the temperature at the proper levels... and my tent is 4x4x6.5.

its a 424 CFM. Im just concerned that the reflector isnt going to have a big enough opening for proper air intake if theres glass over that bulb. The fan is more than sufficient if its not being choked by a mini sized hole for air intake. I planned on sticking a small oscillator up top also for circulation

What kind of fan is it? Can you tell me brand and model #? My fan is rated for the same CFM, and its a 6" fan... it definitely moves enough air through the hood...

Yea, that fan should totally be fine. That looks almost identical to the one we got.
And yes, my hood has a pane of tempered glass in front of the bulb...

tank is right, it will work.
But here's some simple logic for you:
The opening of the fan is the same size as the hole on the end of your reflector. Therefore opening the hole in the reflector (for instance, taking the glass out) will not increase the flow, because the size of the fan's opening is the fundamental restriction. So if the fan is pulling 424cfm through a 6" hole in it's housing, it will pull that through the 6" hole in the reflector and still pull that much if you take the glass out.
