fear and loathing
    #557104 - 05/21/11 12:27 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

I just watched this shit and I thought it was going to be over rated but oh my god that marijuana doctor is the funniest shit ever.

"For example... a dope fiend, refers to the reefer butt as a "roach" because it resembles a cockroach. You will notice that I have distinguished four distinct states of being for the cannabis or marijuana society. They are cool, groovy, hip, and square"

I was rolling on the floor laughing, great movie.

It is my favorite movie ever, the story is incredibly funny, if you like to read, try to find the book, same name, by Hunter S. Thompson, short book, but sooooo good!

"We can't stop here, this is bat country!"

Also, Thompson wrote another book named Rum Express, they are making the movie at the moment, it will be out in october! Can't wait! The book is really good also. Johny Depp is gonna be the principal actor again.

Do you mean The Rum Diary? I have a few of the good doctor's books (including that one), but sad to say I have yet to read Fear & Loathing.

But, this thread has inspired me to watch the movie. So I shall, as this fried chicken and mac & cheese gets warmed up.

Agreed, the dialogue in that movie is epic. Johnny Depp killed that role.

About to throw it on right now :yesnod:

I crack up every time I see this movie.  I love the part where they've just arrived at the hotel and the drugs are just beginning to kick in.  Johnny while beginning to trip very hard, is trying to retain some sort of "normalcy" amidst the paranoia.

The lizards in the bar had me rolling!

it's a plentifully overrated film... but johnny depp's and de toro's performance and the dialogue save it.

It's only overrated if you've never read the book.  Most of the dialog comes verbatim from the book, and of course the book expands on some things but I think they did a good job at translating the book into a movie.

Anyone see 'Where the Buffalos Roam'?  Bill Murray plays HST.  Not as strong a role a Johnny's but still a good flick.

I watched Fear and Loathing again last night and the cop convention scene cracked me up.
After the guy says his speech and they play the anti-drug film.
The narrator says
"Know your drug fiend...his pants will be crusted with semen from constantly jacking off when he can't find a rape victim."

I read somewhere that HST got approached after the movie and was told by some kid that he had captured the adrenochrome seen to match the drugs effects perfectly.

He was too nice to call him out on it though.
