seriously though, check craigslist. for 300/m you can find a room in someones house, all utilities paid. for a bit more you can split an apt with someone. SC rent isnt to pricey, and here in GA we can find really decent 2bd/1bth apts for 650. water included. thats 375 a person for your own spot. + phone and insurance. well, it can be done. bust your ass at work. get some more hours.

you can do it, if you want to. will it be hard? fuck yeah. but is there a price on freedom/privacy/piece of mind about doing it yourself? no, its well worth it even if every last dollar is spent on it.

you could get food stamps too, to help offset the cost.

See, that term pedo gets thrown around a lot.
Is a 16 year old guy having sex w/a 16 year old girl a pedophile?
If not, then how is a 30 year old considered a pedophile for doing the same thing?
I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

Yeah at 22, still have those problems. Never gonna stop, they just want control because they're parents and they think that is somewhere in the job description.

I feel ya man, I had the same kinda thing when I lived w/ my parents.
the thing is.... It's her place, she pays for rent and utilities. She has the right to make the rules. It sucks, but that's life. When I moved out on my own, I made my own rules. Learned a little more about responsibilty. My relationship with my parents is much better, mainly becuase now I can be honest with them without fear of punishment.

I guess, I have this thing where i know my parents won't ever kick me out because they want what is best for me. So I haven't had rules like that since I was like a sophomore.

I find giving a bedtime to someone who is being productive on their own is just making rules for rules sake as being absolutely retarded. (besides it's not the best way to raise kids).

Authoritarian parents for-the-lose.

I'm glad we live in a time with so many people able to get good advice about raising kids though, because it will make less parents make that mistake I hope.

My parents are pretty lax, they only punished me when i did something really really bad. They only got mad when I started fights. flunked classes from sleeping during class and just not turning in homework, and if I like yelled at them or something. They used to get mad at me over  a messy room too.

Other than that I pretty much haven't had any rules since I was a sophomore in HS. Although they may of only been so lax because they knew I was smart.

I dunno, I know I plan on only making rules that are necessary at the time. Although I'll probably read a shit ton of parenting books if I have kids too.

I never got why other peoples parents are so controlling.

Being a parent isn't easy! I am one. But I also used to think the way most of you do about the parent situation. I know in my case anyways, I wish I would have listened to my parents more instead of being the rebellious punk I was. They were right in so many instances, but I had to find out my way. The worst of it,  I ended up in a hospital or in jail because I didn't listen.  And that has to be hard on a parent when you have to see a child either die or almost die! Or know they are in jail with potentially dangerous felons. I would say my parents were right on 80% of the time.

Now that I am a parent of teenagers (3boys). I can honestly say that me and my wife are considered strict from our kids too. However I can say that the reason we are the way we are is protection! As a parent I have done many of the things they are doing or going to do. When I give them a curfew I do so because I know from experience, nothing good usually happens late at night! Or if I do not want them to hang out at certain friends houses, because I maybe feel that one person is a bad influence or has a reputation for drugs or other things. Sometimes us parents can be over protectiv or forget that our children are not llittle anymore. You all may see your parents as prudish, boring, non adventurous people. But they were your age once too. They lived, played and adventured the world and its contents. But when u have kids, you slowly go from carefree to full on protector of this new life. Someday, maybe you all will think thistoo?
