I think The Simpsons gets worse and lamer with every season. The producers have ran out of ideas and its just pathetitc now. It sucks and its sad. 
The old seasons are where its at

IMO the show culminates around season12 and after season 19 its pretty much 
My favourite episode is where Homer gets a computer and starts to post shit on people 
That shit cracks me up each time I watch it

unfortunately I think you're right
I've got the 1st 13 seasons on DVD and I sure I'll buy them all
but I'd say they hit their peak between 4 and 10

I think around season 8 was where it started going downhill.

8-9 is the point where the original team was leaving
so they were doing whatever they wanted without the fear of being fired
and the episodes became a little zany
but you also had the new team coming on (like conan O'Brien) who have been watching the show for the past 8-10 years and were bringing something fresh to the show

They're on season22 now. 20 was lame 21 slightly better and 22 sucks.

I still need to check them out. But that seems to be the pattern with long running shows; the more seasons they release the more the show deteriorates imo. Look at family guy for instance, first 3 seasons were awesome but then it started to go downhill imo.
