 Fixing xbox 360?

I got an extra xbox 360 sitting in my room and it turns on and all that jazz but it wont read a disc. when I put a disc in it says Play DVD, and loads the Xbox 360 logo and then nothing. or it will show a white screen with the xbox 360 logo then it says to play this disc please insert it into an xbox 360 lol.
I have replaced the disc drive on the xbox but didnt help.
Any ideas? Fixing it for a buddy I work with so we can xbox live it up.

I had a playstation do that and it just needed to have the lens cleaned.

Welp, I cleaned the lens on both of my disc drives and tried both and still nothing. Maybe the cables going to my disc drives are messed up? anyone have any ideas?
